In the afternoon, you were playing chess with your father in the throne room. "Now, where did we leave off? Bishop to queen three." King Randolph moved the piece on the board.

"Hm. You're making me pay for beating you last time."

"Exactly." stated your father.

You looked at all the pieces before you smiled mischievously. "You'll have to wait a little longer. Because... Rook takes Bishop." You moved the piece as your father whined.

"Oh! How did I miss that?"

You chuckled before you started to get to the point that you wanted to report. "Papa, I was wondering..."

"If I'll go easy on you? No. Knight to king four." He moved the piece but you continued telling about Rowena.

"It's about Cousin Rowena."

"Charming, isn't she?" he commented.

"Very, uh... stylish. But she's changing everything. She wants us to do everything her way."

"As I've asked her to." He replied.

"But we were fine before. We are perfectly—"

"Oh, that's not what I've heard, (Y/N)." You turned behind as Rowena came out from the shadow with the cart of sweets and tea. "But perhaps you're right. There's so much work to be done, maybe I'm not the right now for the task." She left the cart as she acted dramatically. "What you really need is an entire team, you see. Tutors for protocol, diction, language, etiquette, style. It's exhausting just to think about. I should go. Yes, I should."

She glanced with a slight smirk as King Randolph stood up and begged her to stay. "No, Rowena, you mustn't." You frowned sadly as he entirely believed the duchess. "My girls need you. I can't embarrass them in front of the kingdom by bringing in groups of tutors. There's enough talk already."

"Well, if you really think I can be of service."

"It's settled, then?" He mumbled uncertainly.

"But Papa..." You rushed to him but he turned and told you with his raised voice, standing up for Rowena.

"You must listen to the duchess. She knows what's best for you. I don't want to hear any more on the subject."

You sighed as if you couldn't disobey him. "Yes, Papa." You then walked out of the throne room as Twyla whined, feeling bad for you before following you behind.

King Randolph watched you leave before he sighed in distress. "I hate to see her upset."

Rowena poured the tea into the cup as she was told to soothe the king. "Girls are so emotional. What they need is proper guidance. Here, dear cousin, try this tea. Smooth and refreshing" She gave two cups and gave one of them to the king. The king received and took a sip.

"To your health." She said with an evil smirk before she took a sip as well.

All the girls surrounded you as you told them about the earlier event. "He won't listen. He thinks Rowena's helping us."

"This can't go on forever, can it?" said Blair.

Ashlyn approached them as she tried to lighten up the mood. "At least tomorrow will be a good day." She smiled at the triplets as Lacey said with excitement.

"Will we have cake?"

"Presents?"

"A party?"

"It's your birthday, isn't it?" You told as the triplets laughed happily, waiting for the day to come. After the triplets went to sleep, you and your sisters had prepared for the special day that would set place in the morning.
