"How is she?"

"Knocked out cold."

She raises her brows at me. "By your fist or did she decide she's quite tired?"

"Melatonin." I smile.

"You are such a child." She mutters, mumbling other words under her breath that I ignore.

"What did you say to me in the volcano after my last visit?" I lean against the closest tree after establishing that my plane was safe.

"I said a lot of things to you that day. I think I'll need a little more context." She sits down on the grass at the opposing tree.

We're sitting in a grassy patch just off of one of Arcana's big rivers. It's a popular tourist attraction but plenty of locals use it with boats too.

"It was something in regards to Timber and I."

"Of course it was, you fucking operated on her. You don't even have a medical degree!"

I lift a brow. "I am related to a doctor." They're not really a doctor... but let's just say they know how to work and fix the human body. Literally.

"Still doesn't make you an expert."

"I know at least four weak spots on your body that would knock you unconscious if I hit them."

"You have such a good bluff." She gapes, full of lies. "Don't test me." I advise, giving her a playful smile.

We sit in silence, embracing the salt smell of the river that goes to the ocean all while taking the calm breeze in, too. I've suddenly lost interest in wondering what she said to me, because I need to let go. Move on.

"Can we make a deal?" Raven blurts. "Wow, R, playing all in?" I ask, checking the time to make sure I will make my meeting, still. "I'll give you any inside info on other criminals."

Well, Raven. I'm only in Arcana to arrest Claire and you. I make a bigger profit in LA. But sure, I'll take the extra cash.

"What's the catch?"

"You prove your worth to her and I."

"I hate making shit deals like this." I mutter under my breath. Is she for real? "Take it or leave it."

"How am I supposed to prove it?" She openly laughs at me. "You should figure that out yourself." I'm glaring at her rudely. The wind takes a hold of our silence.

"What will our future look like?"

I wheeze at her. "God I hope you and I don't have a future!" She punches my arm and I wheeze a little harder. "You're actually a child! I'm talking about Claire and I."

"Do you want me to spoil it for you?"

"Preferably."

I smile, so bright.

"Let's make a deal—"

"I hope you fly into a canyon and die." Raven deadpans. So serious! "Oh my god it was worth a shot," I sigh. "Why do you want to know?"
