Finn noticed two things: it was raining outside for the first time in a while, and the girl who ordered plain coffee was sitting at a table today.

Instead of exiting the coffee shop within seconds of receiving her drink after ordering, Katherine diverted to a table near the window.

She pulled out a laptop and a notebook, but continued to stare out the window for a few minutes. So did Finn, almost as if he was looking for what she was staring at. The rain streaked the glass, making the city look like a blurry painting.

Katherine did not seem to break out of her brief trance until a man had passed her and almost knocked down her coffee. She looked reluctant to starting whatever needed to get done on today's to-do list as she stared down at the table. But she opened her laptop anyway, flipped to a page in her notebook, and began to type away.

This happened for several consecutive days; Katherine coming in to stay for a couple of hours and Finn occasionally glancing in between taking orders.

That was, until he was closing up and she was still there, sitting in the small coffee shop.
