nini had managed to go to her first class on time. she felt shaken and a little weak and all she needed was some food and water
the bell rang and she made her way to the cafeteria before feeling someone interlock her hand with his
she jumps to see a bright ricky looking at her and exhales softly "you scared me,"
he chuckles "sorry,"
she smiles weakly and he noticed something different "you okay?"
nini opens her mouth and nods "yeah! i'm fine."
he nods cautiously and they continue their way into the cafeteria to see that their friends were already sitting together and getting to know one other
"-no, see ant man has got to be one of the greatest ones!" big red argues
"but come on! the wasp girl can literally do the same thing as ant man and fly!"
"you're just siding with her because she's hot," kourtney smirks
ej rolls his eyes playfully as everyone laughs and ricky and nini both sit down
"hey lovebirds!" seb exclaims
the two blush slightly and he puts his arm around nini, making her shift when noticing and feeling the intense stares and whispers
"you okay neens?" ej asks
nini looks at him and he sees her face pale and her eyes ever so slightly puffy, already knowing what happened
"i-i'm good! just-hungry." she says as she takes her sandwich and continues to eat it
he nods cautiously and they all continue to eat their lunch while talking amongst themselves and laughing together
when the bell rang, ej took nini by the arm once the others were further in front of them in the hall and looked at her
"you had a panic attack?" he asks
she swallows and looks around "y-yeah-"
"when?"
"in the bathroom." she mutters quietly
ej sighs "are you okay? what happened?"
nini looks down "i-i heard these girls talking about me and ricky-and i just got so stressed and started overthinking everything and then gina-"
"gina?!" he breathes in shock "like-gina porter?"
nini nods "yeah-she kind of helped me."
he knits his eyebrows in confusion and they continue walking
"why though? i thought she hated you." he says
she shrugs her shoulders "i don't know but she even apologized."
ej shakes his head "you should be careful with her neens."
she nods "i know."
"what did ricky say when you told him?" he asks
nini adjusts her bag and shifts her eyes nervously away from the boy
"you didn't tell him?!"
"because it doesn't matter-"
"you had a panic attack about your relationship!" he whispers
"that's exactly why i can't tell him!" she exclaims in a hushed tone "i don't even know what we are. he didn't ask me to be his girlfriend, he didn't ask me out - he told me that he has feelings for me but-"
"and that should be already enough for certainty of what you two are. you're ricky and nini." he says
nini lets out a breath and arrives at her next class, looking at her best friend who mouths "tell him."
