nini and ricky spent the rest of the afternoon working on their project and they were actually getting somewhere this time.
they met each other halfway and were able to compromise most of their disagreements for what to do next on the project
the two found a different side to each other:
nini noticed how ricky actually is a nice person deep down and likes to goof off and speaks his mind no matter how weird or different his ideas are. he has a good sense of humor and made her laugh a few times
ricky noticed how nini - even though she's uptight on the outside - she loves to just stay carefree and is very relaxed and calm about different things. she's very introverted at first but he likes how she warmed up to him quite quickly after they started getting along
"okay so how about we-"
nini gets cut off by the sound of a knock at her door and she opens it to see owen
"moms are asking if this creepy guy is staying for dinner." he says
ricky raises an eyebrow and looks at the boy
the brunette girl laughs lightly "did she not give you his name?"
"she probably did, but whatever." he shrugs "so?"
nini looks back at him and he gives her a questioning look before she just shrugs her shoulders
"okay then," he nods
owen smiles "okay!"
he makes his way towards the stairs and nini rushes to follow him and help
"sorry about that," nini breathes as she comes back into her room "he isn't good with the stairs-"
she stops when she sees ricky looking at her music corner
"how come i didn't notice this?" he asks confused
nini swallows "oh-uh-that's nothing-"
"doesn't look like nothing," he chuckles, showing her the mountain of music theory books and piano sheets on a shelf
the girl makes her way to her bed and sits down silently
"so you play the piano, what else?" he asks interested
she looks at him "uh-i-i guess guitar and ukulele,"
"that's cool," he smiles "so you're a singer right?"
nini shakes her head quickly "no." she lies "uh-no, that's just-it's all-all just playing for fun. i can't sing."
ricky nods and she stands up
"we should head downstairs."
"yeah," he agrees as they both make their way out of her room and down the stairs
"ah just in time! i was about to go and call you," carol beams as the two entered the dining room
they sat down at the table with a small space between ricky and nini that was soon filled by owen
"excuse me," he says innocently as he puts his plate
"owen." nini warns
"what? i just want to get to know reekey." he defends
"it's ricky,"
"whatever," owen waves off "are you a jock?"
"owen," carol scolds
"i'm just asking a question!" owen exclaims with a small smile
"well-i play football-"
"next question," owen interrupts "do you like video games?"
"yeah i guess-"
nini sighs "o, you can stop now-"
"i'm just interviewing him to see if he fits all of the boxes because i need to know if it would be him or ej that would be able to be your b-"
"okay! i'm starving what's for dinner momma d?!" nini exclaims nervously to stop her little brother from finishing his sentence
ricky was completely lost and confused at what was happening while carol shook her head with a smile and nini cleared her throat uncomfortably, owen innocently sitting in his place as dana came out with a platter of food
they started eating with ricky telling carol and dana a little more about themselves while nini listened with a small smile
owen continued his little questions with ricky but the boy didn't mind and even got owen to laugh as they got along well
nini would stop her moms from embarrassing her by telling ricky stories of when she was younger too - it wasn't much of a success
