the salazar-roberts household was filled with their usual christmas decorations and carol, dana and nini preparing the dining table for their traditional lunch and afternoon spent with the caswells

nini asked her moms' permission to invite ricky over this year, and they didn't hesitate to let him come over because in their words: "the more the merrier"

owen was busy playing his video game to wait and pass time before nini came and sat next to him to keep him company

"why did you have to invite that football guy?" he groans

nini laughs "i thought you liked him?"

owen rolls his eyes "like is a strong word."

"well, think of it this way, now you have more than one person to beat at this," she says, motioning to the tv

owen looks at the screen before back at nini and nodding "actually he doesn't seem that bad,"

nini shakes her head with a smile as she hears the doorbell ring and rushes over to open it

"nini!" the tall woman exclaims with a bright smile

"hi leia!" nini beams, hugging ej's mom

"it's nice to see you," jack, ej's dad chuckles as he brings her in for a hug, kissing the top of her head

"you too jack," she smiles

"hey what about me?" ej groans

"i see you everyday," nini shrugs before giggling and hugging her best friend

"hello hello!" carol's voice exclaims happily as she arrives to the entrance with dana following close behind

they all hug and greet each other before the adults make their way into the dining room whilst ej and nini make their way towards the living room where owen was sitting

"i swear my parents love you more than me," ej says

nini shakes her head with a smile at his comment

nini and ej's families have been extremely close ever since the two met.

they both became like the second family for one another and it was extremely great for nini and owen because they were able to have a father figure that they never had as well as the love of three moms

"ej!" owen jumps excitedly

ej chuckles "hey dude!"

he sits down next to the brown-haired boy and they both start playing their video games while nini watches them as she sits on the other couch

she hears the doorbell ring once again and nini gets up quickly to open it, seeing the curly-haired boy standing there

"hi," he breathes

nini beams "hey! you're just in time,"

she opens the door wider and he walks in, taking his coat off as he sees carol walking into the entrance

"oh hello ricky! nice to see you again," she says

ricky smiles "thanks for inviting me,"

"it's no problem," she waves off "the food is almost ready but how about you go ahead in the living room with nini?"

ricky looks at the brunette girl who leads him to the left side of the house and into the living room where ej and owen were focused on the screen
