Ring*
I heard mum ring the bell for dinner.
I ran down the stairs to the dining table and stood behind my chair, waiting for dad and the others.
I'm always first to the dinner table. The radio was playing in the background, they were talking about the weather.
The others come and stand behind their chairs.
My eyes quickly scan across everyone standing at the table, no one was out of the ordinary.
Five always sits next to me.
After a few seconds, dad walked from his office to the end of the table."Sit"
We all sat down in our seats.
Half way through dinner, Five stabs his knife into the table.
I jumped as it came down with a loud knock.Dad looks up from his meal for a split second before looking back at his meal.
"Number Five?"Five let's go of the knife, it stays wedged into the table.
"I have a question.""No Five, please don't do this now, why can't you wait till after dinner like a normal kid"
I thought to myself as I sat there in silence."Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules."
He looks up again."No talking during mealtime, you are interrupting Herr Carlson."
"So that's what the guy on the radios called"
I thought.
I could feel the tension in the room growing thicker by the second."Five, not now"
I whispered to him, slightly shaking his shoulder.
He looked at me.
"This can't wait any longer, y/n."
He whispered back, placing his hand on mine.
The touch of his hand sent shivers of surprise through my body, Five's not exactly the all up and personal type of guy.He looked back at dad.
"I want to time travel."
He said a little too confidently.I was shocked.
Five hasn't talked about time travel for at least a year and he randomly brings it back up now?
"Five! You can talk about this during training or something, you might not even be ready to time travel yet."Five looked at me again.
"Like you said before, you won't know if you can do it until you try.""Five that was a year ago."
"And I live by that line"
I looked down to try and hide the fact that I was blushing.
Dad froze.
He stared at Five, like he was reading his thoughts."No"
Five let's go of my hand and I pulled away from his shoulder.
"But I'm ready, I've been practicing my spatial jumps like you said.
Five blinked from where he was sitting to standing next to Dads seat.
"See?"
Dad looked up at him.
"A spacial jump is trivial when compared to the unknowns of time travel."
I could already tell dad was going to tell a five minute long story that makes absolutely no sense.
"Here we go again"
I whispered to Klaus.Dad continued
"One is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn."I felt my brain do a back flip in my head.
"That just went one ear and out the other"
Klaus whispered to me.
We both giggled and turned our attention back to Five and dad.
Five looked just as confused as the rest of us."Well, I don't get it."
He said, he sounded a little annoyed."Hence the reason you're not ready."
Dad replied."I'm not afraid!"
"Fear isn't the issue. The effects it might have on your body, even on your mind, are far too unpredictable."
Five sighed either anger as dad continued.
"Now, I forbid you to talk about this anymore."
Five looked at me the stormed out of the room.
"FIVE"
I yelled after him."NUMBER FIVE"
Dad watched Five leave then turned to me."Number eight, please go after him and bring him back."
I nodded and ran after him.
I shifted into a hawk and flew through the front door.
Once I was outside I saw Five straight away, it was hard to miss a boy in THAT uniform.I let myself fall out of the sky.
Mid fall I shifted into a small mouse and landed on Fives shoulder.
How he didn't see me?
I don't know.
I felt him jult forward so I held on tight as he blinked with me still on his shoulder. It was the same street, just ... different.
Five laughed"Not ready my ass"
Then I realized what he just did ...
He time traveled
