Chapter 10

Year : 2019

"FIVE?!"

I stood up and start looking around, I shifted into a hawk and flew into the sky.
I flew in a few circles around what used to be our old neighborhood, I couldn't find him anywhere.

I flew back to base and shifted back to a human.
I sat back down.

"It's fine"
I reassured myself.

"He'll be back soon, he's probably just gone to get some supplies."

I looked up at the sky as it started to fall into night.
I shifted into a cat and curled up in and sheltered area.
"Maybe I could pass time by sleeping, and when I wake up, Five will be back."
I thought to myself as I drifted off to sleep.

The next day

I woke up to light covering my black fur.
I was morning and Five still wasn't back.
I stood up and stretched my legs before shifting back to normal.

I was hungry, usually Five does the morning scavenging.
I guess today I'll have to find something for breakfast.
When Five was here, he would do the mornings, I would do mid day and we would do evenings together.

I shifted into a hawk and flew to the Griddys donuts, they always have food hidden somewhere.

I landed on a nearby street lamp and shifted into a mouse and ran down the side of the street lamp and landed on the ground in the Griddys donuts parking lot.

I looked up at the tall building and shifted back into a human.

I walked inside.

I remember this place from when I was younger.
I used to always sneak out with my siblings and come here.

I looked at my charm bracelet, fiddling with the lips charm that represented Allison.
She would always be in charge of our small break outs to come here.

Year : 2001

"Shh, he'll here us"
Allison whispered and the rest of us followed her single file through the halls of the academy.

It's was free time, dad was in his office with pogo, mum was cleaning and we had no idea where Vanya was, probably in her room play the violin.

We tip toed to the front door. Allison signalled for us to stop.
We all came to a halt right in front of the door.

Allison turned to us.
"Okay, we need to get as many people as we can to the other side before we open the door so if we get caught, it won't look like all of us."
She whispered.

We all nodded.
Allison pointed at Five and I.

"Five, blink to the other side and y/n, shift into something small enough to to crawl underneath. Check if there's anyone there who might get us in trouble."

Five blink away as I shifted into a spider and crawled through the cracks under the door.

Once I was outside, I shifted back to normal, Five was standing a few meters away, leaning on a lamppost.
We looked around, there was only about one or two people walking down the street.
I shifted into a spider again and crawled back under and door.

"All clear, only one or two people, but we can get by without them noticing."
I said before crawling back outside and shifting back.

The door creaked open and Allison, Luther, Diego, Klaus and Ben crept out, Ben shortly closed the door behind them.

They looked around.
There was one man, about in his mid 40s staring at us.
Allison skipped up to him like a little school girl, she leaned to him and whispered in his ear.

"I heard a rumor you forgot you ever saw us"

The man stopped staring, turned around and just walked away.

We walked up to Allison as she turned to face us.

"Let's go"
She said with a mischievous smile on her face.

We all ran down the street at full speed to Griddys donuts.

Once we got there, we walked in.
The shop was pretty much empty apart from an elderly couple and the lady at the counter.

Allison lead us to the counter and whispered in the ladies ear.

"I heard a rumor you'd let us get whatever we wanted for free."

The lady smiled at us.

"You all look so hungry, take whatever you want.

We smiled and rushed to the shelves that were filled with almost different types of donuts.

We all asked for donuts and the rest of the night was a blur.

We snuck back in the house about two hours later and ran to get ready for bed.

I scavenged through the rubble and found some old donuts in a small freezer.

I looked around the destroyed donut shop, deep in thought.

"Where are you Five"
