Chapter 3 - The Next Step

3rd POV

One explanation later

"So you're telling me that you are now like the goddess of the universe?!" Jagged exclaimed totally shocked and they slowly nodded

"This is very surprising I must say, but its good that you made them pay. But can you show us if you may?" Clara rhymed and Mari nodded, transforming back to her goddess form.

"Wow. This is beautifully shocking. You are the beautiful part, the rest is just shocking" Penny added.

"So what do we do now?" Mari asked Tikki. The kwami floated towards her and said.

"I know this might be a little hard but as a goddess you can't just be in one place. Soon you will feel something pulling you to somewhere in the world that needs fixing"

"Wait so Mari-bug's gonna have to leave?! Where?" Chloe asked her

"I think she will tell you that now" Tikki answered and they all saw Mari groan as an image appeared with one word.

"Gotham"

"Gotham? What's she gonna do in America?" Penny asked, breaking yet another pencil due to anxiety and tossing it in the trash bin that was halfway filled with other broken pencils, bringing another one from her purse to torment.

"I don't know. There's something not right there and I have to check it out" Mari sighed

"Well then were coming with you" Chloe said with a firm look

"Wait what? You guys cant co..."

"No Mari-san. No and's, if's or but's. Wherever you go, we go. We're coming whether you like it or not" Kagami crossed her arms

"But..." she tried arguing

"No chance Nettie. We're all coming with you. Besides I already had plans to go back to Gotham for a few weeks. Now we can all go"

"Back?" the goddess rose a brow

"Yes. Jagged is from Gotham. And you're all coming with us"

"As much as I would love to go I must decline, I have other things here that need my time. Although I will call every now and then, I wish you the best of luck in your dare" Clara told her and Mari just gave up.

"I give up trying. When are we leaving?" Penny was about answering when Mari's phone went off, and she transformed back to normal to answer.

"Hello?"

"Hello. Miss. Bourgeois? This is Bruce Wayne and I would like to inform you that you have won the essay writing contest for your class and will be coming to Gotham next week. I will forward all the details to your teacher and hope to see you soon" The voice told her and she paled at first, before jumping up and down in excitement.

"Really?! Thank you so much! And I'll see you soon as well"

"Good-bye" And he hung up.

The excited blunette put the phone back in her pocket to see Penny's, Jagged's and Clara's confused faces, with her friend's happy ones.

"You did it! Oh I'm so happy for you Mari-bug" Chloe exclaimed, hugging her

"What's going on?"

"Sorry, I forgot that as class representative I entered an essay writing competition in Gotham and I won. We planned on telling you sooner but I guess we forgot?"

"And we decided to graduate early. So after the trip we could stay to continue our careers over there. So we can be free from the liar and her sheep" Kagami explained

"Okay why don't we do it like this? We'll follow our class next week as planned, but when we get there, we're gonna stay in a different place, my mansion preferably. That way, we can still take our tour and I can have my privacy as I search for whatever is wrong, and we'll also see each other in Gotham Uncle Jagged"

"That sounds like a wonderful plan, but I must help with the mansion". Jagged insisted

"Oh yes me as well I insist! Since I can't be there to assist. You have to let me help from here, I can't resist!" Clara rhymed and Mari sighed, knowing it would be hopeless to argue.

"So the mansion will be ready in 3 days. You guys will leave with your class, but in first-class plane tickets, then from there straight to your mansion. Jagged and I will be there a few days later". Penny planned everything and they all nodded.

The celebrities left a while later, and the kwamis went somewhere to rest as it was getting late. The students left to their rooms in the hotel to change and rest, anticipating the next day with hell, I mean their school.

As Mari drifted to sleep she thought of her new status and powers, how Gotham would be and how she would face school the next day.
