"Thank god, you're okay. You're awake" said a scared yet relieved driver. In the hospital room at New York Hospital, it was bright, brighter than any room that I have ever been in. A doctor came in to ask me a series of questions about my health. I answered that I was okay and don't feel any different. The person who brought me in looked extremely distressed yet relieved that he didn't murder anyone accidentally.

Strangely, behind him, there was a person watching but did not say anything to me with cold eyes. I helped with checkout procedures and noticed that the hospital had a lot of more injured people walking around than I realized previously. Most of them looked grim and did not speak to one another. The most peculiar part, I felt like they should have been laying in in a hospital bed rather than walking around; these people looked very injured.

Either way, I was not a medical worker and this area of the hospital was too cold for comfort. I'd rather leave than stay here. Exiting the hospital, I called a taxi and went home.

Arriving at my apartment, I noticed that I had a lot of new neighbors walking around, this is strange, I didn't think it was a holiday today. Why were there so many people visiting today?

Turning, my doorknob into my 1 bedroom, light-flooded my apartment. My once relaxed body tensed up, in the middle of my room sat a small child. Every atom of my model was suddenly on high alert. A slew of questions flashed through my brain. Why is there a person in my apartment? Did someone break in overnight?

Looking around, it seemed like there was only a small girl here. Taking a deep breath, I thought, it's only a small child, I can likely handle this. Controlling my shaking voice, I asked, "who are you? Why are you here?" While staring at the girl and at my opened bedroom door, I was very close to bolting if an adult came out of my bedroom. What kind of crazy takes a child to rob an apartment?

Instead of replying to my question, the child said, "you can see me?"

I gave the child a second and longer glance and started noticing a few peculiarities. At first glance, she looked normal, but now I noticed that there was blood coming out of her shoe.

Inching backward, I asked again, "who are you? Get out of my house before I call the police."

The little girl suddenly exclaimed," Yay! big sister, you can finally see me.. I've been living with you for 5 years and this is the first time you've spoken to me."

A jolt of electricity shot through my brain, and I ran for it.

This cannot be happening to me. I repeated to myself non-stop. There are no such things as ghosts in this world. Looking around, I noticed quite additional abnormalities, the man a block away from me also has his finger cut off.

Feeling out of breath from running down a few flights of stairs, I tried to regulate my breathing. Let's think about this for a moment, this must be a terrible dream, right? There is no way that this is real.

I was so focused on the ghost from across the street, that I accidentally bumped into someone. The man with the bleeding finger disappeared. I blinked a few times the ghost is still gone. Instinctively, I mumbled sorry to the person I bumped into and started walked away.

When I lost contact with the stranger, suddenly the ghost reappeared. I blinked a few times hoping that magically the ghost will disappear.

For some strange reason, and very unlike my character, I wondered if this was like one of those tv shows, where a stranger could be a ghost repellent. I turned around and saw that the stranger was about to enter his car and screamed, "WAIT!!"

Running as if my life depended on it, I grabbed him by the arms and turned my head to look back at the ghost. He disappeared!! Stars were coming out of my eyes as I stared at my new lifesaver.

I was not sure if it was because I thought this man maybe my potential lifesaver, or as I inspected his features, I found him exceedingly attractive that I stood in a trance. He was dressed in a white dress shirt, form-fitted pants and looked like a walking model with a chiseled chin and bright eyes. I gulped quietly at the sight and snapped out of my trance when I saw a look of irritation across his face. Gathering my nerves, I said the first thing that came to my mind, "Hi. Are you looking for a new secretary by chance?"

No longer holding onto his wrist, I notice someone standing close to him in the background. He said respectfully, "Alex, she looks like a homeless person. You have an urgent meeting coming up with the CEO of Star corporation."

Strangely, Alex did not respond or acknowledge him. I looked over at the tall man behind him and noticed that there was a speck of red coming from his stomach area. Did he not notice the stain on his shirt? I, on the other hand, looked at my outfit and cursed. My originally white pair of skinny jeans had grey streaks and my red blouse had a strange dirt stain. I figuratively and literally was run over by a car.

I was not sure if he was humoring me, since he already had an assistant behind him, but he asked, "You're looking for a job?"

In all seriousness, I said, "I am! Alex..."

Frowning and slightly confused he said, "How do you know my name?"

My eyes widened and fleeted across his face, then moving towards the man standing behind him. I could hear my heart beating rapidly from shock and disbelief. The person behind him didn't spill ketchup onto his outfit; it looked more like blood. Is he a ghost too?

Thinking about my options, I realize a few things. I was too scared to step back into my apartment and sleep with a kid ghost walking around. This man seems to have some type of ability to ward them off. Mr. Ghost was right - I was practically homeless. The better question is, why would any normal guy want to hire me while I looked like a beggar?

I figured given my options, I might as well lay out all my cards.

Looking back at Alex, while trying to control my shaking voice, I bit the bullet and said, "not only do I know your name, I also know that you have a meeting with the CEO of Star Corporation later today."
