Chapter 8 Great Uncle Morvo

Doric explained to Raymond what they had to do next. He had to get his Uncle to sign a card that his mother had given him. Trouble was his uncle was in an old people's home and could barely remember his own name let alone a great nephew he had not seen since Doric was a baby.

"How will he know it's you then?" asked Raymond.

"Mum has given me this tablet for Uncle Morvo to swallow, it will restore his memory for a short time."

Doric showed Raymond a diamond shaped pill that looked like candy in the palm of his hand. It was a deep purple colour with green stripes across it.

"How are you going to get him to take the pill in the first place?" asked Raymond.

"This looks exactly like Uncle Morvo's favourite sweet. My mum has already arranged for me to visit with the place he lives so I just have to go to his room."

Doric also showed Raymond a bag that was full of the same kind of candy

"How will you make sure he takes the right sweet? I'm guessing the whole box is not pills to bring back his memory."

"Uncle Morvo also has bad hands. He'll never be able to open the bag so I'll offer to open it for him and I'll hand him the first candy which will be the memory pill."

"This is starting to sound like a police operation not just a chance to sit and chat with your long lost uncle!" exclaimed Rodney.

"Well that's kinda appropriate seeing as he is a retired officer." said Doric.

"Really!" said Raymond.

"Actually Uncle Morvo would really get a kick outta seeing a human. You know he was the one who got me into reading the comics. Before he moved into the home I helped to clear out his house. I saw the comics and saved them from the rubbish. He had a whole stack of them."

"So how am I going to disguise myself?" Asked Raymond.

"Actually I was joking about that part. He would really love it though." said Doric.

"Oh right. Oh well thought it was too good to be true."

Raymond sat down and gazed out the window. Doric knew he had disappointed his new friend. Imagine if he could somehow get Raymond in to see his Uncle. Uncle Morvo would have some stories to tell and seeing a human might just get him talking. Ever since they had picked up Tolly, Doric had wondered whether Morvo would know anything about Tolly's grandmother.

Doric started to search the computer to see if there was anything on board that he could use to disguise Raymond. Then he thought and said

"Hey Raymond I think I can actually disguise you!" Remember when I picked you up you saw me as a character from that old Earth tv show? Well I wonder if I could do it in reverse. You know disguise you as a person from Platis."

Raymond turned in his chair and sat upright.

"Has that ever been done before?" Will it work?"

"Don't know but let's see what the manual says."

Doric searched the pages on the computer screen.

"Nothing." said Doric.

"Can you type in reverse in that search box?''

Doric typed in REVERSE. Straight away the computer beeped.

"Ok so according to this you will have to stay in the reality room and I can

do it from here. Shall we give it a go?"

"Yeah for sure." said Raymond.

"I'll come with you to set it up at your end."
