Nic's POV

We both turn our heads to judge their reactions. They remain quiet. With every passing moment, my heart thuds even louder. If you thought that the medical school's admission interview is the most nerve-wrecking, this is even more intense. I couldn't help but wipe my other hand that's not holding Grace's, on my pants, as it is sweating so much.

Grace's POV

I was desperately hoping they would say something, but what if they objected to us? Will I be grounded, will I not get to see Nic anymore? I watch my parents exchange gazes and then my mum's eyes turn to meet mine. The sides of her eyes crinkle, shining with delight, as her lips curl upwards into a smile.

"I approve," she mouths to me. My heart squeal in excitement, knowing that at least one of them has approved. My mouth couldn't help but break into a wide grin, until my eyes catch sight of my dad staring intently at the kitchen area, as if thousands of thoughts are running through his mind. I turn to glance at Nic, only to see him staring nervously at my dad, if it was any other scenario, I would have teased him. I give his hand a squeeze, and offer him a reassuring smile. I can never predict what my dad's reaction will be. While he can be a fun guy that jokes around with strangers, he can have explosive anger at times. I seriously hope that he wouldn't kill Nic (not the physical kill, you get what I mean)

After a few moments which seem like a century, my dad finally clears his throat, as if trying to attract our attention, which has already been captured from just now.

"Though Grace is 19 years old, she will always be my precious little girl! If you want to date her, keep that in mind and treat her like one! If I ever see her crying because of you, I will come after you," my dad warned.

"Dad, --" before I could whine at him, Nic interrupted, "Rest assure, Mr Cavill, I will never let her suffer," and he turns to me to continue, "because it will hurt me more than it can hurt her."

Someone, get the defibrillator ready, this guy just sent my heart into crazy fast rhythm.

Nic turns back to Dad, meeting his stern eyes with strong, determined ones. I can see my dad's strong front slowly dissipating, impressed by Nic's answer, but he still ended the conversation with a "we shall see."

My mum exclaims excitedly, "he approves!". It is only then that I feel Nic's grasp on my hand slowly loosening. I look at him and we both smile widely at each other.

Cheers to the new beginning of us.

"Ugh, what should I wear?" I grumbled, throwing my 4th outfit on the bed as I plop down onto my bed.

"What's wrong?" my mum pops her head into my room, before letting herself in.

"Nic's waiting for you outside," she said.

"WHAT! He's here already? I still can't find the right clothes!" I shoot out of my bed, dashing towards the closet to rummage again. I hear my mum stifle a giggle.

"I'm sure that boy there will find you beautiful even if you are just wearing a plain T-shirt and pyjamas pants," she said.

"That's what all mums will say, and you're not a guy! How would you know that?" I grunted as I hold out two outfits.

"Which is better?" I asked my mum, showing her a white waist-fitting dress that just covers my knees and a black crop top with strings at the front to match with a baby pink high-waisted skirt that ends at my mid-thighs.

"Definitely the white one," she pointed. She then left me to change into my clothes. I quickly put on my dress and pick out a matching baby blue sling bag and earrings. I fluff up my hair and check myself out in the mirror for the last time before heading out to the living room.

Nic's POV

I arrived earlier than the timing we agreed on, so here I am sitting in Grace's living room, engaging in a conversation with her father about cars. Thankfully, my dad is also a car fanatic, which now provides me the common topic with Mr Cavill, earning me brownie points! He doesn't seem as scary as before, which I'm grateful for. His words started to drown out as Grace entered my peripheral vision field, wearing a beautiful white flowy dress, making her look like an angel. My one and only angel.

She approached us gingerly, in dainty steps, as if nervous.

"You look so beautiful," I can't help but compliment her, it was then I saw her tight expression melt into a shy smile. She is so cute, my heart!

Soon, we are at the doorstep, ready to leave for our first date, but not before Mr Cavill warned me of the curfew time again.

"Dad!...," Grace whined. I smiled at her, telling her it is fine, before reassuring her dad and then waving her parents bye.

As we turn away, I grab her hand, engulfing her small hands in mine. I can never get over how perfect our hands fit together. We smile at each other and start to talk about how our day went, as we make our way to our first date destination.
