Ch. 97 - Warrior Candidates

After my fight with Galliard, Zeke and Pieck gave me a tour around Marley headquarters. They basically showed me where I would be able to go versus where I can't, cause I'm an Eldian but at least I'm an official Warrior.

I hadn't really gotten to talk to Reiner today yet since he's been reporting back all the information he got from the island. I was trying not to think about it too much. I needed to focus on the task ahead.

"War Chief," a young boy called as he raced over to us.

"Ah, Colt how are you doing," Zeke said greeting the boy.

"Pretty good," the boy addressed as Colt responded. "That was pretty crazy this morning. Where did you even find someone like her?"

"Inside the walls of Paradis Island," Zeke responded.

"You mean...In the...With the...but she," Colt said trying to figure out what to say.

"Yes she may be from that dreadful place but she isn't like them," Pieck interjected. "She helped us."

"She....Helped you?" Colt asked and then noticed the red armband on me, putting the pieces together. "Wait. You hold a titan power?!"

"Uh....yeah," I replied nervously.

"I'm sorry. I didn't introduce myself," Colt said and held out his hand. "Colt Grice! Chosen successor for the Beast Titan."

"Nice to meet you, Colt," I replied smiling, shaking his hand. "I'm Ada Prinz."

"Tis a pleasure. I've never seen anyone really fight like that," Colt commented.

"Well...I had a good instructor," I mentioned thinking of Annie.

"You should come meet the other Warrior Candidates," Colt suggested and I glanced at Zeke and Pieck.

"Go. We'll catch in a while," Pieck said, urging me to go.

"Okay, yeah," I replied and then walked off with Colt.

We walked around headquarters and we were back at the training yard. I saw the same kids again who cheered for Galliard. There were four of them.

"Ada, meet Udo Bock, Zofia Reitsch, Gabi Braun, and my brother Falco Grice," Colt said introducing each one.

They all kinda stared at me as if I was some alien. They all seemed so young, most likely around ten. Udo and Zofia reminded me so much of Bertholdt and Annie. I missed them and it has already been a day.

"Hi, I'm Ada Prinz," I said introducing myself.

"We saw you beat Galliard earlier," Udo mentioned. "Where are you from?"

"Uhm....The walls on Paradis Island," I replied.

"Eldian devil!" Gabi yelled and went to attack me, but Falco held her back.

"Gabi no! Look," Falco said as he pointed at my armband. "She's a Warrior."

"A Warrior how?" Zofia wondered. "There aren't any titans we have that were supposed to be inherited already."

"It's a new titan, one that not even the King knew back in history," I replied. "My family has been keeping it safe for so many years and I've finally brought it here so that I may use it."

"We'll need it," Udo responded. "Once other nations find out we are low on titan powers, they'll strike war with us to test how powerful we are."

"We'll still win!" Gabi chimed in. "Now that Reiner is back we'll have nothing to worry about."

"Gabi. Your last name is Braun right?" I asked curiously.

"Uh yeah," she simply replied.

"Your cousins with Reiner then," I said with a smile. "He probably hasn't seen you in years."

"Yeah, but he's pretty busy," Gabi commented. "He's been trapped at that place for five years. It must have been awful."

"Yeah. It kinda was," I replied.

I didn't entirely lie. Life kinda did suck for a long time behind the walls.

"Oh. Since you're from there, you lived there your whole life," Udo pointed out. "How did you know the Warriors were even there?"

"Colossal Titan showing up and wrecking havoc on the walls," I responded. "I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to titans, so I knew it wasn't just some random titan."

"Wow...." Zofia commented. "Ada, you should come watch us train some!"

"I uh probably can't," I stated. "But I promise to another time."

"Guys...Wait...Don't you realize," Gabi said suddenly. "The only one who came back was the Armored Titan, which means we all have to fight for who gets to inherit it."

They all stood still after absorbing that information and then raced off, a gust of dust blowing in their tracks as they headed to training. I chuckled in amusement and then glanced over seeing Zeke and Pieck.

"Well, I'm gonna go. Nice to meet you Colt," I said and headed off.

"Nice to meet you too Ada," Colt responded with a smile.

I walked over to Zeke and Pieck, heading off.

"Hey. Is it weird to be called a different name now?" Pieck inquired curiously.

"Kinda, but in a way it feels familiar," I responded.

After a long day of becoming familiar with Marley we all headed back towards Liberio. We were given looks by citizens of Marley along the way and I understood the Eldians pain here. They just want to be accepted and be able to live a peaceful life with no worry. Hard to do when a giant nation is breathing down your back.

"Oi, Ada," I heard someone call and I turned around to see Reiner walking over to me. "How was your first day?"

"Good," I replied with a smile. "As you know I beat Galliard and then I got to meet all the Warrior Candidates. Your cousin Gabi among them."

"Ah, I'm not surprised," Reiner responded. "Well, get a good night's rest."

"Yeah. Thanks," I said and once we reached Liberio we parted ways.

I walked on Pieck's house and took off my boots at the door.

"How was it Pieck?" Her parents asked.

"It was great," Pieck replied. "Ada is now a Warrior."

They looked over surprised and I just smiled awkwardly.

"I'm very grateful for you letting me stay at your home," I said, giving a slight bow of respect to them.

"A friend of Pieck's is a friend of ours. Especially a Warrior at that," her mother responded.

"Ah," was my reply as I nodded.

I then headed upstairs to my room and laid down in the bed. So far, it wasn't so bad here, but I know soon enough things could go to hell at any moment.

I wrote quiet a few chapters today during spare time and when I was bored during school cause it is school. So I'm prepared in case I get super busy somehow
