Ch. 37 - A Plan For Stohess

We made it back to headquarters and most of the people went to work on burning bodies. I decided I didn't want to witness it and headed inside. I walked into the girl's room and changed out of my scouting uniform. I put on a burgundy colored top along with some brown slacks.

I wasn't really sure on what I should do right now. Most of the scouts were outside preparing for the memorial of our fallen comrades. I know it was probably dishonorable to not attend, but I wasn't really close to any of the fallen. I know that's awful of me to say, but right now I don't want to think about death. I was worried for my friends. All of them.

'You're smart. You'll figure it out,' Annie's voice echoed in my head.

I should try and figure out who the other shifters so I can help them somehow. I feel like I'm obligated to do that. They're hear because of a titan my family held, right? But now the scouts were trying to keep Eren from all harm and sacrifice everything for him. It wasn't fair. How is one life put so high above others? I get he's special but is all this death truly worth it. To me it didn't seem like it. But I'm biased since Eren's titan is responsible for the murder of my family.

I heard a knock the door and looked up surprised. If it was a girl they would have just walked right in. So, who could it be.

I walked over and quickly wiped my tears before opening the door. I looked up to see who it was but before I even had the chance, I embraced in a bone crushing hug. I knew who it was.

"I can't breathe," I gasped. "Reiner..."

"Sorry," he apologized and let go of me. "Are you alright? You didn't get hurt did you?"

"No, Reiner. You were with me for half of the expedition," I reassured him.

"But you disappeared at one point," he pointed out.

"Well, yeah but I'm came back," I responded.

"That titan could've killed you..." Reiner murmured as he laid his head down on my shoulder.

I hugged him gently and lightly rubbed his back to help him feel better.

"Yes, but I'm still alive and I'm here," I stated.

He lifted his head from my shoulder and then immediately kissed me. I closed my eyes and kissed him back. I felt his arms wrap around my waist as he pulled me closer to him. His kiss became more heated and passionate. I didn't mind as I just enjoyed the moment we were sharing. We eventually broke the kiss and I heard another knock on the door.

Reiner moved to the side so that when I opened it he wouldn't be seen. I walked over and opened the door to be with the sight of Jean and Armin.

"We need you to come talk to Commander Erwin with us," Jean said.

"It's important," Armin informed me. "And he asked for you as well."

I nodded and glanced back at Reiner. "Alright. Let's go then," I replied and closed the door behind me, leaving the girl's room.

We met up with Erwin, Mikasa, and one other scouts room before heading into what looked like a meeting room. Eren and Captain Levi were already sitting there.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Erwin apologized once we entered the room.

"Not at all, sir," Eren spoke and then noticed us. "You guys. Um..."

"We have identified a person of interest who may be the female titan," Erwin announced. "This time we won't let her escape."

My eyes widened, realizing now that Armin must have come up with a conclusion to who it was. He's too smart for his own good.

"The operation will happen in two days," Erwin informed us. "It will take place in Stohess District, on our way to the capital. This is our first and last chance. Once we pass that point, Eren will be handed over to the capital. Our pursuit of those who seek to destroy the walls will become fraught with difficulty. Ultimately, humanity stands to go extinct. We will stake everything on this plan."

Ewrin then laid out a map of Stohess and began to explain the plan.

"When we pass through Stohess, Eren will act as a decoy, and lead the target into this underground tunnel," he said point at where the tunnel is. "If we can get her to the lowest level, given the tunnel's size and structure integrity, even if the target transforms we can immobilize her. But if she transforms before then, Eren, we'll need your help."

"Yes sir," Eren responded and I rolled my eyes. "As for the target, are we sure she's in Stohess?"

"Yes, our target is a member of the military police" Erwin explained.

"The military police?" Eren replied confused.

"It was Armin who arrived at that conclusion," Erwin stated. "He also believe the same target is the one who killed the two captured titans. She may be a former trainee from the 104th, the same as you."

"Wait a second....the 104th??" Eren said shocked.

"The name of the girl we believe to be the person of interest is.." Erwin began suspensefully. "Annie Leonhart."

My eyes widened. So they did end up figuring it out. Faster than I even imagined.

"You're crazy. There's no way it is Annie," Eren said trying to defend her.

"Eren. Didn't she seem familiar to you," Armin commented.

"Her titan form even looked similar to herself," Mikasa stated.

"Come on Eren. Didn't anything about her strike you as Annie," Armin said staring him down.

"H-her....fighting style," Eren replied but still wasn't believing it. "But, (Y/N), you were the closest person to Annie than any of us. Did she ever say anything about this or do you even believe it?"

He was clearly desperate to clear her name for some reason and I glared at him so he would sit back down.

"All of us had secrets, but she never shared hers, Eren. You didn't even know you had any," I replied clearly agitated and tears began to flow down from my eyes. "And there is unfortunately no doubt, that Annie is the female titan shifter."

Another chapter!!! Here we gooo!

Not much happened but now we gotta see what we'll do next, because obviously we can't just like them hurt our girlfriend Annie.

Look, we all love Annie and I would leave any man any day for her, but we gotta give Reiner some love as well.

Don't come at me. Annie is best girl and I love her. That's why we gonna save her!
