When I touched down in JKIA, Nairobi, there were paparazzi around. Feeling self-conscious, I pulled on my afro wig, tied up my black trench coat and slid my dark glasses across my nose.

By the time they spotted me, the dark vehicle that was going to drive me to Wilson Airport was leaving. They only took glimpses of my side profile... hopefully.

I was flying in a private craft thanks to Simon Cowell. He wanted me safe and comfortable and he had arranged everything personally.

My mother would meet me in Eldoret, at the airstrip near Kamukunji, and I would be driven home quickly.

If I had known, I would have protested. I hated it when people spent money on me.

It didn't take long for me to arrive in Eldoret once the plane took off from Wilson.

My mum was with my dad, Michael Hearst, who hugged me happily. They dropped me off at my little rental apartment room before they both took off.

When I got into my humble abode, all I could think of was sleep... and Nolan. Why he did what he did, and how he could turn it all on me.

It's like he lives for your misery. His sole purpose on this earth is to make you cry.

I agree.

Despite my exhaustion, I couldn't fall asleep. The Nolan issue was weighing down on my mind and it bugged me so much, I decided I would call Dr. Pendo when I woke up in the morning.

*&*&*&*&

Syco Records was helping me process my documents. They said they would have sorted everything out for me in a month's time.

I wasn't too sure though. Instead of waiting for the month to wind down so that I'd get my documents ready, I decided to send in my resignation letter to the hospital I worked at.

Since I was in the private sector, it wouldn't be a big issue. I just had to deal with the hospital administration before leaving. However, while awaiting a replacement, I would have to work.

I was given a few free days to get rid of jetlag. I spent those three or so days with my parents. My mum was finally pregnant, and she was going to have twins!

The three of us went to church to thank God for the miracles He was giving us.

When we left church, we were trailed by paparazzi. My parents didn't notice, but I did. Luckily for me though, they were not Kenyan. Just two or three whites.

*&*&*&*&

Dr. Pendo was waiting for me when I arrived at the nurses' station. His dramatic afro that turned many a head in the past was now closely cropped to his toffee-coloured skin. His hazel-brown eyes which somehow had a green-ish tint werestaring at me angrily. His body, quite muscular for a lanky guy like him, was leaning against the desk.

Every girl, even Tori, found him attractive. I was one of the few who didn't, and at first it made him angry but he got over it. Back then, he thought I chose Nolan because he was muscular or something.

He now knew though that the heart wants what it wants. This didn't stop him from trying to win me over because truth be told, his friend was a trainwreck.

Literally.

Like what he tried to do to me back in London, a week or so ago.

"Pendo," I began quietly.

"Don't 'Pendo' me," he said in his slight Canadian accent. Don't ask.

"Love," I said, translating his name into English. His eyes widened. I had him right where I wanted. So I closed in for a hug.
