My eyes widened. "Break up? Why? What did I do?"
Bill shook his head. "You didn't do anything wrong, I promise."
I glared at him. "Then what's the problem?"
He stepped away from me. "I'm going to live in Egypt." he said simply, as if that answered all of my questions.
I crossed my arms across my chest. "What does that have to do with us breaking up?"
"Well," Bill started slowly. "I won't be seeing you anymore."
"So?" I said waving my arms around. "We can still owl each other! And I can Apparate to Egypt! We can do long distance!"
Bill shook his head. "It will be too difficult Fawn, I mean, only God knows when I'll be coming back! And you're going to start working too! It'll be distracting."
"Distracting?" I said angrily. "I'm not going to be distracted! Oh my god there's another woman involved isn't there."
Bill let out an agitated sigh. "No there is not another woman. It's just-, I don't expect you to understand."
"Then help me!" I said desperately, grabbing the front of his Gringotts robes. "Help me understand why we can't be together!"
He looked down at my face. "I just can't Fawn," he said, pulling away from my grasp and walking up the stairs.
"When do you leave?" I choked out.
He turned back. "Tomorrow morning,"
My heart clenched. "Is this your final word? We're breaking up? Without you fully explaining why?"
He looked at me. "Yes,"
And with that, he went up the stairs.
The next morning, I walked down to the kitchen feeling depressed. I walked into the kitchen and looked around. Mrs. Weasley was frying eggs. Mr. Weasley, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron and Ginny were at the table waiting for breakfast.
"Where's Bill?" I asked.
Mrs. Weasley looked at me, with a confused expression on her face. "He already left for Egypt."
Mr. Weasley raised his eyebrows. "Bill told us that he already told you a private goodbye this morning, before leaving."
I felt tears brim into my eyes, and without a word I ran out of the kitchen and into the garden. I sat down at the porch, sobbing. I couldn't believe it. He just left, without a word. And he lied to his family saying he said goodbye to me.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Fawn?"
I turned away. "Leave me alone Charlie."
"Bill told me to give you this." he placed a letter on my lap and left.
Wiping my tears, I opened the letter and started reading.
Dear Fawn,
By the time you read this, I'll already be in Egypt. I'm sorry for breaking up with you. Lucas, Finley and Damon told me it was an idiotic idea but I didn't listen. I hurt you, and that hurt me. Knowing that I broke your heart is eating me alive right now. But the reason I broke up with you is because I'll be living in Egypt, and I don't want your options to be limited. We can't physically be there for each other anymore. We can't see each other like we used to. You need someone that can be there for you whenever you need them. You need someone that won't be dumb enough to hurt you, like I was. I'm sure you will meet another man that can do all that for you.
I still love you tons,
BillI finished reading the letter and cried harder. Bill was right, he was dumb to break up with me. What's he playing at? Thinking I'll just run off with someone else.
I was sulking around the house for the next few days. I had told everyone exactly what happened after they had pestered me endlessly. Mrs. Weasley was so angry at Bill, and she kept saying that when he came back to visit, she would hex him back to Egypt.
Rue, Damon, Lucas and Finley had come to visit me and they were all also really mad at him.
Rue banged her fist on the table. "I'm going to kill him!"
Charlie put a soothing hand on her shoulder. "Calm down love."
She shook her head. "No, I'll go to his place in Egypt and fucking kill him."
Finley leaned against his chair. "I told him he was dumb, I already told him. But did perfect Mr. Head Boy listen? Nope"
Damon sighed. "I can't believe him honestly."
Lucas nodded. "Yep, and you won't believe what happened!"
Charlie looked at him. "What?"
"Well," Lucas began. "I was telling him he was being stupid, y'know, about the whole She'll probably meet someone else and I was like Dude, I know Fawn, she's not like that. Then he got mad and accused us of sneaking around together."
I stood up. "WHAT!?"
Lucas sighed. "I know. I told him he was being ridiculous, and that the reason I know you're not like that is because you and we have been best friends for the past four years! So yeah, Bill thought you and I were having a fling behind his back. I finally convinced him that we weren't but he was still mad at me."
I got up and stomped towards the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Rue called out.
"To write a letter!" I called back.
I sat down in my room, took out a piece of parchment and a quill, and began writing.
Dear Bill,
I hope you are enjoying yourself in Egypt. Have you met any pretty witches there yet? I'm just writing to let you know that you're a complete arse. How dare you accuse me of cheating on you with Lucas! Or anyone for that matter. We've been dating for four years! Do you not know me at all? You really think I'd have a fling with someone? Let alone our best friend? Honestly, I'm done with your bullshit. You better run if you see Rue by the way, she told me she's going to kill you when she sees you. Your mother also said that when you come back, she will hex you back to Egypt.
Next time I see you, I'll shove your wand up where the sun never shines,
FawnI smiled at my letter. I felt a lot better writing it, and so I tied it to my owl Snowy's leg and told her it was for Bill, and I watched her fly off into the distance.
