The next morning, I was free to go. My knee still hurt so I had to limp slightly as I went to the Great Hall. When I walked through the door, all my friends and teammates jumped up and ran to hug me. The last person to hug me was Bill, and when he reached me he wrapped his arms around my waist and spun me around. He set me down and looked down at my face for a moment. My breath felt lodged in my throat, but then Connie and Alice grabbed my arms and sat me down, piling food onto my plate.
I felt Anna Davis' eyes boring into me. It was hard to imagine that we were friends last year. Or at least, she pretended to be my friend. I was stupid enough to trust her with one of my biggest secrets, something only my parents knew. I had told her how the summer before third year, I went on a date with a 14 year old muggle boy, who forced me to sleep with him. I was traumatized and I thought Anna would be a friend, but no. Since then, I haven't told anyone. I just hope Anna doesn't tell anyone herself. She always makes comments about it to me when no one is around us, and it hurts. It brings back haunting memories. I was only 12 when it happened. My parents blame me for it, saying it was because what I was wearing.
After Herbology and Charms, we went to Potions. I sat down with Bill, Lucas and Finley and I started pulling out my stuff when Anna yelled out "Hey Fawn! How was your summer?"
I looked at her confused. "Uh, It was fine I guess...."
I looked at the boys, who shrugged, wearing the same confused expression as me. I resumed pulling my book out when she said "Hopefully it was better than last summer, no?"
I froze, my heart beating fast. I ignored her, hoping she'd stop.
Anna started twirling a piece of her hair with her finger. "I mean, in third year, you were crying to me about what happened."
I took a shaky breath. "Shut up,"
But she kept talking. "I mean, what were you even wearing? I bet you were asking for it."
My hand started shaking. "I said shut up!"
Anna laughed. "Let me guess, you went on a date and he took you back to his house to do his business."
"SHUT THE FUCK UP ANNA!"
Bill looked between us. "Anna, whatever you're saying just sto-"
Anna spoke over him. "Stop lying and saying he forced you to sleep with him, I bet you enjoyed it..."
I stood up with a sob and fled the room, rushing passed Snape who was just coming in.
"Miss. Starling!" he called out but I ignored him.I found an empty classroom and went in, feeling a panic attack bubbling up in my chest. I tried to take a deep breath but I couldn't. I slid down the wall and cried, as all those memories came flooding to me. Seeing him on top of me, his face getting closer as I yelled no and tried to push him away. I pressed my hands on my face, the tears seeping through.
"Fawn?"
I looked up through my blurry eyes to see Bill standing in the doorway. He came over cautiously and sat next to me.
"Aren't you supposed to be in class?" I asked.
"Snape said I could come see you, Lucas and Finley told him what happened. He said I should take you to the Hospital Wing."
I just cried harder throwing my arms around his neck. Bill wrapped his arms around me.
"Fawn, I'm going to ask you some questions ok?"I nodded.
"Ok," he whispered. "What are five things you can see?"
I looked around. "Your face, your hair, desks, chairs and a chalkboard."
"Ok good, what are four things you can touch or feel?"
I clenched Bill's jacket tighter, trying not to cry. "Your jacket, the floor, your hands and your hair."
"Alright, and three things you can hear?"
"Your voice, your heart and uhm, students outside."
"Very good, two things you can smell?"
I sniffed. "My shampoo and you,"
"Alright darling, last one. One thing you can taste."
"My tears." I said quietly. I felt a bit more calm, but it didn't stop the silent tears running down my face.
"Let me take you to the hospital wing. Snape said you should drink a calming draught." He said, holding me tighter.
I sniffled and nodded. He helped me stand up and walked me to the hospital wing. I kept my head bent low so the other students wouldn't see me crying. When we reached the wing and Bill said I needed a calming draught, Madam Pomfrey didn't even ask any questions. She just rushed off to get me some.
Bill lead me to a bed and sat next to me, rubbing small circles on my back as I took deep breaths. Pomfrey came back and handed me a glass of water with some calming draught in it. I drank it and instantly felt a lot better.
"Alright dear, you can stay here until you feel better ok? Leave whenever you want." she gave me a smile and quickly rushed off to another bed where a boy was retching loudly.
I had stopped crying and was staring at my shoes. Bill stayed silent, still rubbing my back. Suddenly Lucas and Finley walked in and sat on two chairs.
"Are you ok?" asked Finley.
I shrugged. "Could be better,"
Lucas nodded. "We finished Potions, then we told McGonagall what happened. She gave Anna detention for the rest of the week! And said you can have the rest of the day off."
I smiled. "Thanks for telling her."
"Of course," Lucas said. "You're our friend, and you're also Bill's cr-, um, I mean....friend." he finished awkwardly as Finley smirked and Bill glared at Lucas.
I didn't even care what Lucas was going to say.
"Soooo," began Finley. "What was Anna talking about?"
I looked at him with raised eyebrows and he looked mortified. "I'm sorry, you don't have to- I um, maybe I'll just-"
He got up to leave but I grabbed his arm and sat him back down. "No It's fine,"
I looked down at my fingers, not really sure where to start. "Um, the summer before my third year. My muggle neighbor, he asked me out. I said yes, and then I asked my parents. They said it was fine." I felt tears brimming in my eyes again and I continued. "We went for dinner, then he asked if I wanted to go to his house to play some board gamed, I was so stupid and I went. And then he, he-," I broke off sobbing again and Bill hugged me.
"And what did your parents do?" Bill asked.
"Nothing... they said it was my fault. Because of what I was wearing,"
Lucas looked confused. "It was your fault because of your outfit?"
I nodded.
"I think we should take you to the common room," Bill said.
Finley nodded. "Oh yeah, McGonagall said you can take a break for a few days. We'll get you your homework assignments."
I smiled, grateful to have these boys as my friends.
