'Run'

Even though this one word is all I could think about, my body refuses to move from its spot.

'Get up!'

I keep telling myself.

'Get your booty off the floor! Now!'

I say to myself once more, but I couldn't, everything felt stiff to me. It feels as if the those two red dots had pinned me in my place. I feel trapped, I feel scared, and most importantly I feel like I'm about to pee my pants. A few seconds had gone by and I was still stuck to the floor, my butt still feeling sore from the impact. It wasn't until the red eyes staring me down disappeared from my vision, that I found my soul return to my body. I jumped up from my position and ran towards the steps connecting to the ground floor.

I bolted down the staircase, skipping the last one. The front door now in my line of sight, eventually I reached it but the momentum made me slam my body against the hard wood. I let out an "Ow!" on impact but immediately regained my composure to focus on getting it open. My hands were shaking as I fumbled with the lock on the door. 'It's just a lock, just turn the damn thing already!' I thought to myself.

"Come on, why won't you open!"

Coincidentally right after my statement, the door swung open. I tried to run out the door and maybe, hopefully find someone who could help me, but I didn't get very far from where I stood. Instantly my body ricochet off of another body, both of our heads knocked into each other as we both let out a loud "Ow!"

The impact managed to shove both the other person and I on the ground. I sat up and placed my hand on my head, applying pressure to relieve some of the pain from the head butt I just received. I open my eyes but all I see is a blurry figure in front of me. The cold air from the outside rushes in. It calms my nerves a bit, cools me down, and gives me enough energy to stand up before they do and reflexively kick them. I don't know where, I just know the kick landed.

"Ow! Sera stop it! It's me, your dad??? Jeez, what has gotten into you?"

"Dadweneedtoleavetheressomethinginthehouseweneedtogonowor-!"

"Woah, ok slow down there. I won't understand a word you say if you keep mumbling like that!"

He stood up from his place and started to rub both of my shoulders, trying his best to calm me down. He was right, nothing good will come out of being panicked. I started to relax, taking deep breaths one at a time.

Breathe in

Breathe out

I took in one more breath before speaking once more.

"I saw something."

"Can you elaborate? What did you see?" He asked, with his head tilted to one side. I think he's getting more curious with how vague I'm being. I briskly look behind me, checking to make sure it, whatever it was, didn't follow me downstairs. I then face back to my father to continue what I was saying.

"I- I don't know. All I saw were two glowing red dots, or eyes, or whatever, but you know how that works!"

"Where?"

"In your room! What'll we do now?"

A sudden look of realization popped up on my Dad's face. I think he knows what was really going on.

"Oh I think I know what's going on." In the midst of my panicking, I mentally high-fived myself. I always thought I was psychic. My thoughts were promptly cut off as my dad dragged me back towards the interior of the house.

"Wait! Dude, what are you doing! Are you sure you know what you're doing?!" I tried to dig my heels into the ground to resist my dad dragging back into his hell room, but my efforts prove pointless as he effortlessly drags me towards the staircase. 'And they call me reckless.' I thought to myself, although they not meaning they, but meaning Sarah.
