𝐏𝐥𝐨𝐭: Set in the fantastical middle ages, a lone unicorn learns that she is the last of her kind and sets off on an epic journey to rescue her mythical siblings from the hellish clutches of the famed and feared Red Bull who belongs to the wretched King Haggard. Along the way, she meets and befriends a feeble magician named Shmendrick, a rueful young woman, Molly Grue, and a timid prince, Lír, whose lives become forever changed.
𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞: Fantasy, Historical, Action, Romance.
𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬: This story is best comparable to The Last Unicorn (1982) film adaptation as well as The Labyrinth (1986).
𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: This book is a deep and painfully beautiful allegory for womanhood and growing up as a girl in an unwelcoming world. I could go on forever about how absolutely gorgeous this book is and what every last detail can be interpreted as, but I won't because everyone needs to read this book for themselves!! The author does astounding magic by painting beautiful scenery in surprisingly few words. The language borders on medieval but ties in many late 20th-century vocabularies as well, making the aesthetic of 70's/80's fantasy bleed right off of the page. Every sentence is quotable. If you take anything from this segment -- READ THIS BOOK.
