𝐏𝐥𝐨𝐭: Marie Antionette finds herself tangled in the whirlwind of French society during her transfer from archduchess of Austria to dauphine of France. Luckily, she isn't completely alone. Lady Oscar is the daughter of a renowned French army general -- raised as the son and sole heir of her family's fortune. Her identity is not a secret to the French court. In fact, Marie is delighted by Oscar's story and takes her on as a personal bodyguard. The two undergo several outlandish (and historically accurate!) adventures during her journey to becoming queen.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬: This story is best comparable to the films Marie Antionette (2006) and Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019).

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: This book was just recently translated into English from a 70's manga series and animated television series. The nostalgic art-style goes hand in hand with the historical setting and puts the reader in a totally whimsical headspace. Personally, I was a big fan of the historical accuracy and how it blended with the original characters created by the author. The fashion was accurate and breathtaking. While this book was marketed as a shojo romance, it doesn't show until the very end of the novel. Lucky me, I bought the first two volumes of the five-book series.
