HARRY WAS NEVER MADE AWARE OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF HOW HIS PARENTS CAME TO THEIR DEATH: HE NEVER KNEW ABOUT THE BACKGROUND TO IT UNTIL NOW.
After Fred and George passed him on the Marauders Map (something he found incredibly alluring and swore he'd never lose it) he ended up finding a passage that led him into one of the many shops in Hogsmeade. When he did make his way there, he immediately sent and found Hermione and Ron who were shopping in Honeydukes. The three of them then headed to the Three Broomsticks.
Speaking of the death of his parents, Harry was only made aware of the circumstances five minutes ago when he was sitting under a table in the pub. McGonagall, Flitwick, Hagrid, Fudge and Madam Rosmerta, all five of them came in and started to speak about what happened regarding Sirius Black.
And that was when he learnt something very disturbing.
"You'd have thought Black and Potter were brothers!" Professor Flitwick chimed in, grinning. "Inseparable!"
Harry was certain he heard wrong but by the look on both his friends face, he knew he hadn't.
"Of course they were," said Fudge. "Potter trusted Black beyond all his other friends. Nothing changed when they left school. Black was best man when James married Lily. Then they named him godfather to Harry. Harry has no idea, of course. You can imagine how the idea would torment him. Not to mention James being Atlas' godfather."
