As they left the branch office in a hurry, Akiri and Mikoto were racing to meet up with the Anti-Skill team sent to apprehend Dr. Kiyama.
After being informed of where she was estimated to show up, the pair got on a cab and made their way to the predicted location where Anti-Skill had set up a blockade. They only hoped that nothing goes wrong and if it did, they could be there in time before the situation escalates.
Tension was at a high in the back seat of the moving cab. Despite knowing that Dr. Kiyama was only a researcher and nothing more, Mikoto couldn't help but worry about Uiharu's safety. And she wasn't the only one as the boy sitting next to her is feeling the same.
Akiri: (thoughts) Ruiko... Kazari... I've put you in danger again...
His hands curled up into a fist as he grits his teeth in frustration.
Akiri: (thoughts) Even though I did all that...
(Flashback)
???: Hm? You want me to do what?
A female voice was heard. Akiri is now standing in front of a girl with long blonde hair, with her golden starry eyes looking at him with a slightly surprised look.
Akiri: I need you to erase their memories of me
???: But why? Aren't they your friends?
Akiri: ...Yeah. That's exactly why I need you to do it. For their own safety... It's the only way to protect them...
The boy looked at her with a serious look on his face.
Akiri: I'm calling in the favour you owed me
???: ...Alright
(Flashback over)
Akiri: (thoughts) Well, it's my own fault. I knew I shouldn't have gotten involved with them again...
Before he knew it, the car stopped abruptly to a halt. Mikoto had just told the driver to stop.
Mikoto: Let's go. We're here
The girl told him, and Akiri briefly shook his head trying to regain his focus on the situation at hand.
Akiri: Right
The two quickly exit the car as Mikoto paid for their fare and instructed the driver to get clear of the scene. Meanwhile, Akiri had called the Branch Office and put his phone on speaker so Mikoto could hear as well.
Akiri: Hey, what's happening up there?!
They were only met with silence as there was no answer.
Mikoto: Hey, Kuroko!
Kuroko: ...Kiyama... Is fighting Anti-Skill. And she's using abilities!
Akiri: What?!
Mikoto: She's an Esper?
Konori: There's no record in the databanks that Kiyama underwent ability development. But...
Both Akiri and Mikoto used the maintenance stairs on the side and they started to rush up to the highway.
Konori: ...These are clearly Esper powers. Moreover, she seems to be using more than one
Mikoto: No way!
Akiri: That's impossible! People could only have one ability
Mikoto: Yeah, there aren't any exceptions to that, right?
Kuroko: Could it be the Level Upper? A synapse system made from a network of 10,000 brains... If you could control something like that, then she could achieve what no one could ever do... A multiskilled Esper, "Dual Skill"!
