Previously, in Changeling:

"Go and help protect the others. There's still villains out there, and who knows who might try something." Kirishima smashed his fists together, his signature stance giving me reassurance that it was ok. I took a deep breath in, then turned away, quickly running and jumping into the air, shifting midair into a large eagle just like before, when the press infiltrated the school grounds. The event that began all of this.

I quickly flew towards the entrance, scanning the ground to see if any more villains roamed around, searching for unsuspecting students. I noticed one who was watching me. I recognized him immediately. He found me.

I landed, shifting back to human right before I hit the ground.
"I told you I was coming for you." He said. He was only a year older than me, someone I thought I could trust when I was in the states.

"What are you doing here?" I seethed. My quirk stirred at the negative emotions slowly building inside of me.

"Simple. I'm following you. See, after what happened in the states, I knew you would probably come back here, and you would probably go to the school where all the best heroes in Japan teach so they could keep an eye on you while protecting you." He explained. He took a step towards me. I took one back.

"You're lucky you aren't dead yet." I slipped off a glove, praying this confrontation wouldn't come to a fight.
"Oh, come on. We both speak English. Why not speak it since no one will understand us?" He smirked. I knew what he was trying to do. What he wanted to do. "You know, After it happened, after you left the American Sector, they asked about you. I told them. I told them what you had done and how you ran away, like a coward. You ran back here, to your precious father who abandoned you in the first place."

I took a breath in. I knew he would try to play with my emotions. I couldn't let him. I couldn't let him win. I told myself over and over it wasn't my fault, that her death wasn't my fault. I was forced. I couldn't fight against them.

But I could have. I could have fought. If I did, then she would still be alive. It was my fault that Alona was dead. I didn't try hard enough to save her. And with that, I felt something inside me break. I closed my eyes for a minute, then opened them. He was gone. And I was left alone. I looked around, seeing no one. I shifted just my ears, listening with a wolf's senses. It was silent save for the sound of the battle at the plaza where my friends were and at the entrance where the rest of my classmates gathered after getting away from the villains in the area they were warped to.

Was it in my mind? Did I imagine the whole thing? Was my conscious trying to force me into facing reality? That it was my fault that Alona is dead, and it's my fault she is? Because, the truth is, it was my fault. I lost control. And I hurt her. Alona's smiling face flashed in my mind. "We'll become the best heroes to walk the earth!" Some hero I made. I was the one to kill her.
The horrifying truth bounced in my mind as I turned, trying to rid myself of the feeling of the anxiousness. This feeling... That it was all my fault... It was all my fault. The world spun and black floated in and out of my vision. I heard someone call out to me as I tumbled to the ground. I couldn't breath. It felt like I was suffocating as I clawed at my neck, my shifted clawed hands drawing blood. It stung as the blood seeped out of the wounds, but I barely felt it. Finally after what seemed like forever, darkness overtook me and I embraced it.
