Ad mea primus amor,
Some have lived and died without experiencing this
The one short glance that you brushed off to forgetThe wondering and pondering about what is on their mind
The fear that sticks and stays the whole time
The whole duration filled with anticipation and bliss
The butterflies that stick around and never leave their pitSome were born, never giving that glance
That signaled that maybe, just maybe, you had a chance
That the thoughts you dared to think crossed their mind, too
And that maybe, just maybe, you weren't being a foolSome have breathed without inhalation
Of the bodily function that shot down animation
The weakened knees and stumbling speech
And aversion to the eyes, though wanting to seeSome have walked and not joined hands
With another person who gave them plans
Who gave them hope, who they called their future
For them the insanity has yet to occurSome have argued, yelled, but have yet to speak
The three little words that you heard from me
They never felt the passion, the devotion, the zeal
Of becoming one item or a packaged dealSome have lived without depending on love
To show them the light and to keep them above
A slave to affection, bounded to the flame
For them they have not had such feelings to tameSome have died, never feeling this
Strong emotion-overwhelming fondness
They didn't fall out like the times now face us
But they didn't get to feel the grips of a young loveThat originated from butterflies and palms filled with sweat
The sweet, small glance, that I'll never forget
