Hello everyone! I hope you're all ready for a new one-shot! Please enjoy!!

By the way, I'm pretty sure I already used this image before but whatever, it matches the theme and I love it.

(Natsu and Lucy are not already dating)

❗️Final Season Spoilers

For the past few days, Lucy won't lie and say she didn't notice anything odd about the dragon slayer. In fact, she noticed a lot. She noticed he wasn't as energetic as he used to be and how he wasn't as eating as much as he normally would.

She didn't want to say anything before just in case it was something too personal. But for a week? That was when she got concerned.

This was rare, especially since many see him as one of the happiest people in the world. He always had such a bright smile and it hurt to see it gone. Gray even admitted he started to feel bad for the guy. He didn't know what was happening, but he definitely knew something was wrong. Especially when Gray tried to pick on him and all Natsu did was push him and walk away.

Lucy held her hand close to her chest as she walked in deep thought. What could be of the matter? Maybe Gray said something that was a little too far? Maybe something happened with Happy — no, Happy admitted he himself didn't know. And he was the dragon slayer's best friend.

"Lucy, what's the matter?" The exceed glanced up at the blonde as she walked alongside him.

Lucy shook her head, "Nothing. Just thinking."

"About . . ?" Happy questioned her once again.

"It's just Natsu." She sighed. "I wish I knew how I could help."

"Lucy, you know how Natsu is." Happy frowned. "He always keeps things silent when they bother him. He won't even tell his closest of friends. And I'm sure he would tell you if he could."

Lucy grinned warmly at him, "Thank you, Happy."

After a few minutes during the walk home, the two finally ended up back at the blonde's apartment. Lucy quietly opened up her door seeing how it was already dawn. The moment she got a good view into her house, she could see the slight shadow of what appeared to be the dragon slayer himself. Lucy glanced down at Happy who glanced at her.

"I'll leave you to it." Happy grinned hopefully, and bounced away.

"Wait—" Lucy held out a hand, not wanting to be left alone with him.

Lucy sighed. She did want to be with Natsu, however, a part of her was anxious and had no idea of what to do. She didn't know exactly what he was feeling and she feared she may make a mistake.

Lucy inhaled deeply and finally took her step in. She softly closed the door behind her and approached Natsu who sat on the floor with his back resting against the couch. When she got a good glimpse, she noticed he wasn't even wearing his scarf. He wore just a simple black t-shirt with some baggy pants. He also appeared to just be staring blankly at whatever was in front of him. Rather it be the window or his own feet (that didn't have shoes or coverage.)

Lucy took off her boots and set them aside. She then took a seat to the right of Natsu. Not too close just in case he wanted his own space.

And for a while, the two sat there silently in still darkness with only the uprising moonlight providing light through the windows. The only sounds heard were the winds brushing past her windows and their quiet breathing. And there came a point where a quiet sniff was heard. Specifically from Natsu. At first, Lucy didn't want to say anything about it. Just in case he didn't want her to and wanted his own time. Because he was aware she was there. It just seemed he just needed to have his moment at the time.
