Hey everyone!! I hope you're all ready for a new one-shot. Please enjoy!!
(Natsu and Lucy are already dating)
For almost a year now, Natsu and Lucy had been a couple. As new and exciting it was, something felt a little bit off. Sure, they were loving to each other and casually joked around just like how they were friends and at the same time, give each other kisses and hugs, but still, for some reason, Natsu felt something was a bit off.
Lucy was kind and sweet, however, she sometimes held back. Why? Probably because of embarrassment or nervousness. So, the thought came into Natsu's head; how would Lucy act if she was completely honest with her feelings?
There was really only two ways this could go; rather Lucy loves him a lot more than she's showing, or this may be their last day as a couple together. And Natsu prayed for that lost option to not happen.
So, a few days ago, he may have visited someone for a certain potion. He told himself that he wouldn't do this but he couldn't help but be curious. Sometimes, he'll go in to kiss her on the lips and yeah, sometimes she'll return it, but also, she'll jokingly push him away. He was gonna just ask her but she was only going to say what he wanted to hear. "Oh no, it's just a joke! Don't worry, I still love you!" But Natsu, for some reason, felt it was more than that. And he was quite determined to find out what it was.
So, once he got the potion, he returned back home around evening where Lucy had seemed to not notice a thing since Natsu had a thing for arriving late nowadays. Like always, she assumed it was because of a fight at the guild she missed. The moment he saw Lucy writing down at her desk with a cup of tea by her side, he figured this would be his chance.
He approached Lucy lovingly and softly wrapped his arms around her neck, placing his chin gently on the top of her head as he saw the corner of her sweet grin. He glanced down at her work and immediately, he was flooded with confusion.
"Writing again? That's like the third time today, Luce." Natsu uttered.
"I didn't write that much in those times. Did you want food?" Lucy glanced up at him.
"I wanted you."
"Yeah. I mean—is that even a question?" Natsu glanced at her smiling face that practically glowed. Even in a lazy wear, Lucy still managed to look absolutely beautiful and never failed to. And honestly, it seemed to match her personality perfectly. Natsu, just wished that he understood her just a little bit more. And her true feelings as well.
Yeah, they confessed and all but he still had to know for sure. Normally, he would absolutely trust her. But he couldn't help it.
So, the moment the blonde got up to the kitchen, Natsu watched her with careful eyes before pouring the small potion into her tea, it dazzling seconds before fading away and dissolving into the warm liquid.
Lucy rejoined, "Okay, we gotta let it sit out for a while and then I can start cooking, alright?" She grinned as warm as always.
"Alright," Natsu replied, watching her then sit back down and take a careful sip of her tea. He gulped, fearful it wouldn't work but maybe that was just karma getting ready to bite him back for this. He'll admit; he did feel a heavy layer of guilt on him for not being completely sure about Lucy. But to be fair, if they did have the opportunity, wouldn't they want to know if their significant other was honest about their feelings?
So, after a while and after dinner, Natsu still studied her. Funny, because he never thought he would ever use those words in the same sentence before. But to be fair, Lucy was pretty much the only thing on his mind besides fire and food.
