(Natsu and Lucy are already dating)

Golden rays shined through the glass windows as morning took its toll on Magnolia. It was a typical spring morning with summer around the corner as warmth flooded the room with slight breezes brushing the skin of the townspeople. A certain dragon slayer stayed awake for he woke up about an hour ago. He did ponder on taking a warm shower but honestly, even if he was awake and didn't go back to sleep, he decided on taking one tonight where he had more energy. In the meanwhile, however, he had his eyes set on a certain blonde who made soft and quiet snores between her lips. Her fair skin made its way into view only, the fluffy, pink blanket her and her boyfriend slept with coated most of her body. Across her shoulders, were a thin string of black due to her tank top that hanged loose and ruffled in the wind. Her hair was a messy clump which was a rare sight to see from the blonde. Natsu felt honored to see such a side of her, despite how silly that sounded.

A few minutes ago, he did decided on actually leaving bed where he ended up now sitting on the hard, wooden floor, leaving him to only gaze at his slumbering, girlfriend's face. For, she looked quite beautiful in her sleep.

Natsu had no idea she was this tired. He understood her when she said, "I'm so exhausted, I could fall asleep right in the middle of the guild." And that said a lot, but he didn't think she actually meant it. Normally, she wakes up and tries to pull him back down when he tries to get out of bed but she didn't move a bit.

Natsu glanced at the clock on the wall. It was almost after noon and he had a feeling she wasn't gonna wake up until maybe the next hour. And he certainly did not plan on waking up the beast at anytime in his life.

What's cute was not just her, but the fact that his partner of a exceed fell asleep right at the edge of her feet. Lucy would probably be thankful she took a shower last night before she flat-out, passed out on the bed the moment she met it.

"It's almost afternoon. . ." Natsu muttered, having realized that a few minutes ago. "I have some time." And with that, Natsu quickly got up to his feet, having to shake his foot quickly in order to wake it up. Had he really been sitting that long on the floor?

The dragon slayer quickly changed out of his comfortable pajamas and changed into his normal attire; a typical best, his trusty scarf, and some baggy pants that surprisingly fit him well.

The moment he finished changing, he then made his way out of the door, closing it and locking it soon after.

For a while, Natsu and Lucy have been dating. About three, almost four, years if he remembered correctly. And even if him and Lucy could have their disputes, they always bounced back better than ever.

With a bond like that, Natsu was more than certain that he loved her with all his heart. Even including the fact that no matter how destructive, annoying, idiotic, he could be; she always found a way around it. She was always so thoughtful and kind. He honestly didn't even know what he did to deserve her. Well, yeah, he did save her life like countless times but that was for two reasons; he hated watching people he loved die and because he didn't want to know life without her in it.

Which leads him to this; he didn't want to leave her. He meant that as a promise. He wanted to go on silly jobs and scolded with her. As silly as that sounded, it was practically heaven to him. He loved all her flaws. From her messy hair to her quick-tempered personality. It was everything to him.

And all those adventures and moments together, led him to this one moment. This felt so awkward, he could only think.

What am I doing in a graveyard at 10 am? He sighed.

Well, at least he'll feel relief.

Before him were two tombstones with the names, "Jude Heartfilia" and "Layla Heartfilia": Lucy's late parents.

This has been on his chest for quite a while and if he has any hope of getting it off, he might as well do it now.

"Hi. . ." He nervously begun. "I know that you guys don't really know me. But maybe while you guys are in heaven, maybe you came across my dad at some point. Or even my actual parents whoever the hell they were." Natsu found himself chuckling at the thought of it even though himself didn't find it as funny. "You know, your daughter, Lucy, I dunno what y'all did, but I'm happy she turned out the way she is. She's happy and she's having the time of her life here at the guild which I can imagine she probably already told you guys. My point is; I love her. I really do. And I promise to never hurt her. I just want her to be happy and to feel loved. And honestly, it seems she is. And that's all I could ever ask. She's so kind and caring and not to mention, even beautiful. She's just amazing. Which leads me to why I'm here. Mister and Missus Heartfilia, it's not like me to be this proper. Trust me, you can ask everyone at the guild. But I figured it's more respectful in this way. Lucy. . . She's everything to me. And someday, I hope that we can have what you two had. A happy marriage. I want us to start a family of our own and teach them what we learned. I want to be with her and I hope that it's okay with you two. I just ask for your consent. Your consent for me to be the one that'll love and marry her, please. This is because I honestly don't know what life would be without her. She dragged me out of a darkness I didn't even know I was in." Natsu uttered under his breath to the two tombstones in front of him.

He was never exactly really good at asking for consent no matter the occasion. He was always better at just leaving some things and taking control. But now he realized; some things just don't work that way. Of course that didn't change him as a whole, it just made the world somehow easier. At first, he'll admit; it did seem hard.

Well, since he was pretty sure he wasn't going to get an answer back, he just left things as they were, even taking out some small tulips he found on the way and placing one on each of the two tombstones.

He dusted off his bottom and got up to his feet and got ready to head him, exhaling deeply, feeling the relief of taking that heavy weight off his chest. Deep inside, he was happy. He didn't have to worry about what would happen if he didn't. He did the best thing that he could think of, and this time, he hopes it was enough.

He spun on his heel and made his way on to the exit, only now, behind him stood the love of his life with tears pricking the corners of her eyes as she stood in surprise as two carnations were in the grips of her fingers.

Natsu gazed at her with a smile of warmth broad upon his lips, quite proud of what he did. And that only made her smile as well.

Oh yeah, that too. I love your daughter's smile. He thought as he then saw her making her way towards him.

Once in reach, she gave him one of the biggest hugs as he returned it as well, wrapping his arms around her neck as her head laid right upon his chest and next to his bicep.

She sniffed small, "You didn't have to do that, y'know." She muttered.

Natsu laid his cheek on the top of head, "I know. But something told me I kinda had to."

Lucy parted from the hug and gazed him straight in his onyx irises. She tilted her head as her smile became hopeful and small, "Did you mean everything you said?" She choked on her words.

Natsu held her shoulders gently, assuring her with truth and love, "Every word." And with that, he softly pressed his lips upon hers as she kissed back in return. They moved softly and slowly to only then part. She softly held his cheek in her hand as he leaned in towards it, she whispered, "I love you more."
