"I'll be back in about an hour," Davenport says to us through the open window of the van. Chase, Bree, Adam, and I are all standing in the parking lot of the new froyo place. Apparently, it just opened today or something, and all three of them were begging Davenport to drop us off here. "Since I'm bringing Leo home, I'll come pick you guys up in my new car that I personally designed."

"Is it the self-driving car?" Chase asks excitedly. He bounces up and down with his hands all bunched up.

Davenport frowns at him. "How do you know about it?"

Chase's face pales. I softly laugh to myself at the panic clearly written across his face. "You told me. Remember? It was . . .  it was when we were talking about - um --"

"That's what I thought." Davenport shakes his head with a sigh. He starts to roll up the window while saying, "Don't get into trouble! I don't want to come back to find this place blown to smithereens."

"Smithereens?" I whisper to Bree. The sentence stands out to me, though. Do they have a history of blowing things up? "Who uses that word anymore?"

"Someone as old as Davenport," she whispers back to me. I laugh and wave at Davenport as he backs out of the froyo parking lot. He disappears around the corner. "Alrighty, guys," Bree says to all of us. "It's time for us to go separate ways. Emmie and I are going to go talk to those cute guys over there while you two can do whatever you want, as long as you don't interrupt us."

Before the boys can even answer us, she loops her arm through mine and pulls me toward the open froyo shop. I don't see any cute guys around us, though. It's mainly just girls in here right now, ordering some froyo. Instead of heading up to the counter, Bree guides me to an open table. She sits down, so I sit down across from her.

"What are you doing?" I ask her with a frown on my face. "I thought you said that there were cute guys here."

"I lied." Bree flashes me a grin that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. "I wanted to talk about that weird interaction you had with Chase earlier today."

I cross my arms over my chest as my gaze flits around the froyo place. Cute guys are in here now, and they're all chatting with each other. I don't dare look outside because that's where Chase is. "What is there to talk about?" I ask quickly.

"Well, for one, the way you're acting right now," Bree points out. "And two, the way you two acted earlier. It was almost like you had a --"

"Bree!" My head snaps over to where that voice came from. I frown when I see Marcus standing in front of us. His eyes settle onto me. "And you, whatever your name is."

"Emmie. It's Emmie."

"What a coincidence seeing you guys here!" Marcus says, ignoring me. He gestures back to Adam and Chase, who are walking over toward us. They both look happy that Marcus is here, which proves to me that they still trust him. "Where's the little rascal, Leo?"

"He was asleep in the car," Adam explains to Marcus. Adam stands next to me, resting an arm on the top of the chair. "Davenport decided to take him home early while the rest of us got some froyo."

"Aw, he's missing out on this fun time." Marcus doesn't sound too upset, though. He pulls out a chair next to Bree. Adam and Chase sit down as well, and unfortunately for me, Chase is next to me. "I'm so glad I found you guys here! I was afraid that I'd be lonely, but now I'm not."

"I wasn't even sure if we were going to come," Chase says, grinning, "but Davenport surprisingly dropped us off. Since we played laser tag earlier, it was iffy if we were coming or not."
