The bionics and Leo have been home for a while, but they aren't upstairs. They must be in the Lab with Davenport, discussing something that I'm not supposed to know. When Bree walked through the door earlier, she looked like she was in a bad mood, so I hope that she's feeling better now. I'd like to know what Davenport is telling them, and she's the one who tells me those things.

Scrolling through my phone, I frown when I see that I have a lot of emails. Clicking on the app, I groan. Of course. It's my teachers emailing me what I should do since I'm not going to be back anytime soon. One of my teachers asks me if I'm alright, so I send a quick response back, telling him that everything is okay, and that I'll hopefully be back soon. I'm not sure when I'll be able to do all of these assignments, but I have to make sure they get completed.

"Marcus wanted to come over today, but Chase told him he couldn't," Bree says, plopping down on the couch next to me. Just at the mention of his name, a bad feeling spreads through my body. "I'm not sure why, though. I wanted to hang out with him since we haven't seen him in a while."

"You guys are still friends with that creep?" I ask, turning to face her. I set my phone down so I can focus all my attention on Bree. Her eyes narrow at me, and I say, "Hey, I've had a bad feeling about him ever since I met him. It's not like I'm worried about him stealing you guys away from me."

"What does that mean?" Bree asks, her voice cold and hard. "Are you implying something?"

Frowning, I shake my head. Bree seems to be in a bad mood today, so I have to be careful about what I say to her. "I'm not implying anything. I'm just saying that I don't like the guy because he's weird."

"Well, it's only you and Leo that don't like him." She glances down at her phone, her frown deepening. "He's a good guy. Trust me."

"Why should I trust you?" Bree's head whips up. "You didn't show up the other day when you were supposed to. Chase and I trusted you that you would, but you didn't. So, give me a good reason why I should trust you." Her anger is rubbing off on me, and that's not a good thing. I'm easily angered, especially when it's with someone I like, and we can't waste time fighting when there are things we need to do. "But it's whatever."

"It obviously isn't whatever. If you brought it up now, that means you've been thinking about it for a while."

"Okay, maybe I have," I said, throwing my hands up into the air. She dodged one of my hands, a sour look on her face. Standing up, I point at her and say, "You promised us you would be there, Bree. You promised me!" My throat grows thick, but I push past the tears. "This is one of the worst situations in my life, and you blow me off like that? I wasn't happy."

"You're not the only one going through this, so stop acting like it," she snaps, standing up as well. Her dark hair falls into her face, and she angrily brushes it away. "We are all going through this just as much as you. It's always all about Emmie though. Do Adam, Chase, and I get to grieve about Tasha? No, because you're pushing us to find them."

A stabbing pain in my chest stops me short. Did she really say what I just heard her say? The constant buzz in my ears sharpens and grows louder, drowning out my heartbeat. "Are you for real?" I whisper, taking a step away from Bree. "If I don't push you to find them, then you guys won't do anything."

"You think that," Bree says, crossing her arms over her chest, "but you don't know us. You don't know what we do everyday, how we save other people."

"You're right; I don't know you guys. You don't know me, either." Footsteps tell me that there's another person in the room, so I glance over. Adam strolls into the living room and then stops, staring between the two of us. I snap, "What are you doing?"
