Imprinted Child
Foals born and left alone
Are more like the feral kittens
--frightful and bounding away.
Imprinted foals are our friends at birth
--curious and in our pockets.
As soon as they breathe in air,
We begin the delicate imprinting
--naturally on our own.
Helping the foal to its feet
--if needed.
And showing it our tender hearts.
Years later, I discovered imprinting
--Is a science
A way to help the foal trust and be curious
--to bind them to us.
Isn't it the same the other way around?
Putting a baby on a horse or pony
--Before the babe can walk on it's own,
How can they ever be fearful?
From that moment on, all horses become family
--moreso than the family dog.
The non-conscious' natural training has begun
--proven by science
--the earliest experiences mold us most.
A preschooler racing a pony doesn't have to discover
--life is magical
--horses have power
--riding gives a person wings. . .
Such a child seems born with this knowledge,
It is part of them,
Innate, in a way.
Ongoing imprinting of the child further entwines their soul with equines.
Take the horses away from an imprinted child
--more than a broken heart!
It leaves a confused soul wrestling with a lost appendage.
For my own soul
I'd enjoy hearing from anyone else who has been imprinted. Like & comment!
