Summer Sun
Grasses sway over the pasture,
Wild flowers polka dot the scene,
Elms shade the far corner,
And cool spring water fills the creek.
Breezes lift the pin oak leaves
And afternoon sun colors the trees--
A horseman's picture of his favorite breed,
She leads the herd at break-neck speed.
A painting that lives on in memories,
A recollection of a hundred days
Of a dappled mare that caught my gaze
Jumbles all the moments into one--
A perfect day 'neath summer sun.
