She Knows
She knows
the wild quarter colt
scattering the dust, bouncing in the dirt,
charging fences, and tempting gravity,
And she knows
she can break him.
She knows
he will succumb
to a gentle voice
and a stern command.
She knows
the day will come
when she can ride him
Anywhere, anyhow.
She knows
they doubt her
and have concerns about her.
She knows
it will take time,
patience, and bruises
and more knowledge than she has now.
She knows
there's a real possibility
that she'll fail.
She knows,
But she won't let it stop her.
