Like dark-tanned leather
Or long-fallen leaves,
Like the smell of home's soil,
Horse sweat smells sweet.
Like nature's country air
Or a river in the morn,
Like recalling that first pony,
Horse sweat takes you home.
Like a hard-lost competition
Or the breath of a changing puppy,
Like a high up-hill ambition,
Horse sweat smells sweet.
