Carl's POV
Maggie, Glenn, Daryl and I cautiously walked into the abandoned store. This was the first time that I was allowed to go on a run with the group. Dust flew everywhere causing us all to cough.
Suddenly, a shadowed figure appeared within the dust, pointing a gun at me and the group. The figure was a young girl. She had flowing (y/h/c) hair and sparkling (y/e/c) eyes. "What are you doing here?" she asked Daryl, in a raspy but calming voice.
"Do you have a group?" Daryl asked the girl, his crossbow pointing at her. Maggie, Glenn and I all had our guns pointed towards her too. If someone shoots, they're gonna pay.
"No," The girl replied. "I'm on my own."
"Okay." Daryl said under his breath, lowering the crossbow, the rest of us followed along and put our guns away. "What's your name?" Daryl continued.
"Y/n." She said. Y/n, I thought, that has a nice ring to it.
Come on, Carl. You don't even know this girl. Stop being so ridiculous. You can't fall in love right now. It's stupid. It'll just get in the way of surviving. If you fall in love, you'll end up dead. That's how it works nowadays.
"How many walkers have you killed?" Daryl started asking y/n 'the questions'. So at least he's considering bringing her back to the prison.
"Haven't kept count." Y/n replied. I started to stare at her. Not in a creepy way, I just thought she was beautiful.
"How many humans have you killed?" Daryl continued.
"One."
"Why?"
"It was my sister. She was bitten. I had to." Y/n sighed. I felt bad for her. I felt bad that she had to go through that. I felt bad that she was on her own, with no one there to help her.
I'm glad that we found her. And I barely even know her. Remember that promise I made that I would never fall in love? Fuck that promise.
