A/N: IM BACK!!! please go to my a/n on my book 'never' because its important lollllll anyway lets get to the story

Y/N's POV

It had been 2 days since the prison was destroyed. Carl and I had lost everyone in the group. All we had was each other.

"Carl!" I called as we walked down the road. Carl was walking a few meters in front of me. No matter how much I called his name, he refused to stop.

I ran up to him and put my hand on his shoulder. He stopped walking and looked at me. "Please," I said quietly. "We need to find somewhere to stay."

Carl rolled his eyes and kept on walking, but this time with me next to him. "Follow me." He muttered. His voice was raspy due to the lack of water.

I followed Carl as he led me into the forest. There was a path on the ground that had been made with rock, sticks and dirt. The trees spiralled above our heads, substituting as a shelter. Carl walked in front of me. He seemed to know where he was going.

We walked for what seemed like hours, but in reality was only a few minutes. My feet ached and my forehead dripped with sweat as the sun hit my head through the leaves.

I wasn't paying attention to what lay in front of my eyes until Carl came to a stop. I looked up and saw a gorgeous waterfall. The river splashed and the water rippled. I hadn't seen anything so graceful in years. I used to think that the only thing left in the world was sadness and death, but I had now come to realise that there was so much more than that. It was just waiting to be discovered.

"Wanna go swimming?" Carl joked, as the smile that I had missed these past few days appeared on his beautiful face. I chuckled lightly at him. The new world had made us mature, but deep down, we were still kids, and we always will be.

Carl dropped his bag to the floor and took off his hat. His long-ish hair stuck to the sides of his face, framing it perfectly. He jumped into the pool, splashed me with tiny bits of water.
Seconds later, he appeared from underneath the surface. His hair and clothes were wet but he didn't care.

"Come on!" Carl yelled, resting his arms on the side of the waterfall. "Are you not getting in?"

I took my backpack off of my back and jumped in. As soon as I hit the water, I felt as if I had been struck by lightning. My body tingled and I felt free. Free from this world. Free from my thoughts. Free from everything.

I reached the surface and gasped for air. My eyes met Carls and the all-too-familiar butterflies exploded in my stomach, causing me to feel nauseous as I stared into Carls blue orbs.

Carl began to lean closer to my face. I closed my eyes as his lips touched mine. He wrapped his hands around my waist as my hands played with the back of his hair. He pulled away and we looked into each other's eyes again.

This is the moment that I knew; I was in love with Carl Grimes.
