"How are you doing today, my prince?" Dr. Psychobos said.
He didn't have to come here. Dr. Pyschobos was a military manufacturer as well as my teacher. My father only wanted the best. He looked like a purple earth crab about the size of a human.
"So what's the plan for today?" I asked.
"Today is an extra special day, your highness," he said.
"For what?" I asked.
"It's time for you to choose your bride..." he smiled.
That's when I remembered it was the eve of Dharak Day. It would be special this year because of my coming of age ceremony. I was to choose a wife from the nations my father had conquered.
His plan was put in the textbooks of every Vestroian soldier. It was to ask the other planets for tribute in exchange for protection. If they didn't pay their protection money, the home planet would be razed and punished. They would enslave the species and break them down. It was all horrible stuff and it would be my job someday.
