Ruel x Reader, two music worlds collide

part 13

It was your typical release party, people in every corner and most of them only being there for the booze. I stood in a group of people next to a stage, nodding along to the conversation but not hearing a thing. My mind was consumed by the boy standing on the opposite side of the room, a bunch of girls hanging around him. It was almost pathetic the girls laughing and batting their eyelashes at him. He looked up through the crowd of people and his pleading eyes met mine
" guys, hate to interrupt but I think I need to go and save Ruel"

I started walking over and his body relaxed as he saw me coming closer, the girls caught him watching over their heads and turned around. Seeing me caused them to scatter and it was hard to hold back my laughter as Ruel very visible let out a breath.
" hey" he whispered into my hair as he wrapped his hands around me
" hey" I whispered back. We started swaying slightly from side to side as he looked down at me
" I've missed you"
" I was gone for 5 minutes"
" take the compliment woman"
I threw my head back as I laughed at his comment. Things had been going great. The song had been recorded and promoted therefor the release party, we had managed to keep the relationship on a low since acting like a couple in public was expected from us. Tonight we were going to preform the song in front of everybody.

" how about pizza at my place after this whole thing"
I was now leaning against the wall next to him, watching over all the people in the room
" that sounds like the best plan you've ever had"
" Elsa, Ruel come over here" Nate waves his hand his way and we slowly start walking.
" this is John and he works for Beat Magazine, he's gonna be reviewing the song" as he said the last thing he gave us a sharp look implying that we need to be on our best behaviour while talking to him
" hey, it's so nice to meet you" I stretched my hand out and he shook it before shaking Ruel's.

" I'm gonna ask you two a couple of questions regarding the song before we start"
" so number one: what's the song about"
" Well I guess you'll find out when you listen but to me it's about wanting to be someone's friend but knowing that they like you more than that"
" yeah I totally agree with Elsa, it's actually inspired by my song Not Thinking About You but written from the other person's perspective"
" okay number two: is it a coincidence that you two are releasing a song only a few months after the rumours about you two getting together started spreading? I mean you two kind of hated each other"
Just as we start with a panicked answer Sophie calls us over to get ready for the performance, taking in the roll as our knight in shining armour.

Backstage was much more quiet, even though there was only a thin drapery separating us and the other room. Nate and Sophie walked out on the stage to hold some kind of speech before presenting us
" I like it when it's just the two of us" Ruel whispered as he came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist
" huh?"
" not a bunch of annoying people asking us wether this is real or not, not two managers telling us to be together but not be together"
he leaned down and pecked my lips right before we were called onto stage.

The performance went great, our voices harmonised and all that. As we ran of stage the adrenaline was flowing through our veins and with out thinking our lips connected
" ewww I don't wanna see that"
quickly we pulled away in fear of it being one of the managers, only to be met by the face of Coco
" thank god it's just you"
" just me?! RUEL VINCENT VAN DIJK! I'm not just me I'm the one and only Coco and I'm expecting a bigger BETTER reaction"
She then turns from Ruel and engulfs me in a hug
" how I wished you were my sibling"
" hello to you to"

The party continued quite some time after that but only an hour later Ruel and I snuck away. On the way to his home we picked up the promised pizza and as we closed the door he pressed me against it
" you know it's getting though not to make out with you in public"
" nobody's stopping you, in fact your manager is encouraging you to do so"
I ran my hands through the ends off his hair as his grazed my hips
" you know what I mean"
his voice had dropped two octaves since the second that door shut
" actually I don't"
" stop being so smug"
and then our lips connected.

He pressed me into the door, his hands finally gripping my hips and my hands tugging at his hair. I pulled away and he started to leave kisses on my jaw, leaving marks below my ear causing me to moan.
" don't tell me you don't want to jump my bones when you see me"
" you really know how to ruin a mood Ruel"
we officially pulled away then, he picked up the pizza and I adjusted my dress.

He set down the pizza on the kitchen island as I opened the fridge looking for some wine.
" find what you need"
he wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head on my shoulder
" you don't have any wine" I said with a pout
" there's beer right there" he reached out his arm and pointed to a six pack of bottles
I sighed and he left a small kiss on my neck before walking away.

Four bottles of beer and a pizza later we were laying in his bed doing nothing. He played with my hair as I laid on his chest
" can't we stay like this forever, in our little bubble where we can be together with out-"
" we're together?"
" well I- eh you know, well it's"
" I would love to be your girlfriend if you'll have me"
" I most definitely want to have you"
" that sentence made no sense"
" shut up"

The next morning I woke up to my phone ringing
" Elsa have you read the article" Sophie said as I accepted the call
" it's 7 in the morning"
" so?"
" no"
" I'll send it, you read it and then head over to Ruel as quickly as possible"
" I'm already at Rue-"
Fuck I did not just say that, why does she call me this  early
" you're what?!"
" so you send me the article and I'm already heading towards Ruel's place, bye!"
I laid back down and snuggled into Ruel
" hey wake up"
" mmm"
" we need to read some article, Sophie called me freaking out"
" no"
his arms tightened around me as he pressed a kiss to my forehead.

" how about I read it aloud to you while we stay in bed?"
he nodded his head and I reached for my phone
" oh it's the review of our song, you know the guy we talked to last night"
" why's Sophie freaking out? didn't he like us?"
"The release party of Get Me Out Your Head, the duet from Ruel and Elsa was quite the spectacle. The song was quite inspiring and the mix of beat and melody mixed together amazingly but the talk of the party wasn't the song, it was the "relationship" between the two. I met the couple a few minutes before their performance and when we touched the subject they were dragged away to get ready. The couple then disappeared only an hour after their performance. Now for the question, is it PR for the single? I mean come on, Elsa's career basically started from talking about how she lives Ruel music, for a year they were both talking about each other in every interview then they hated each other, only a month ago they were spotted on a date and announcing a single. This whole thing feels like it's made up by their manager. Okay wtf was that, how's that even an review?"
" passive aggressive instagram post?"
" you read my mind"

A/N this chapter is kind of bleh. I guess I started this story with out an ending and now I'm just writing. Anyway I'm hoping I'll get somewhere with this story
