It was early, before dawn, when I got out of bed and read the note I found on my desk. The note informed me there was a letter for me at the astronomy tower. I wore my casual clothes instead of school robes and lazily stumbled all the steps up to the floor where they kept all students owls.
I was anxiously holding the letter, not really knowing what to expect. I ripped the letter open like you would a bandage.
It was hardly a letter, more like a note. I stared at the signature without reading the note through. Magni.
Get me information about Emeric Selwyn. Find out everything about him. Do whatever is neccessary. Use your training.
Magni
Emeric Selwyn? I had never heard of him, but I recognized his last name to be one of the sacred twenty-eight pureblood families. Why does Magni need me to find information about him? Is this some kind of a test?
I pondered the request for many days. I went on normally about my days, and for every minute that I had time to think, I thought about Emeric Selwyn, who is he?
I spent my time in the library almost every night, until curfew. Reg was busy with quidditch practise and when he asked me why I had been so busy lately, I blamed it on schoolwork. Sometimes Lily joined me in the library, furrowing her brows at the fact that I refused to tell her what exactly I was looking for. It took me weeks to scrummage through every book in the Hogwarts library that had any information about the Selwyn family. But there were none named Emeric in the familytree.
Tonight was one of those hopeless nights. I growled in frustration in the seemingly empty library. Another dead-end once I read the book about Wizards that were forgotten. I was out of options, I didn't know where to look next. This was the first time Magni had requested something, and I already failed. I huffed and laid my forehead against the book. I wonder if I would some day be in one of these books. Wizards that were forgotten.
I was snapped from my thoughts by someone clearing their throat behind me. I turned to look at them.
"Peter," I mumble surprised.
"Hey, Lily told me you were here. Is everything okay?" Peter frowned as he sat down beside me.
"No," I quiver and shake on the chair. I let my head fall back on it's position on top of the book.
"Why?" I hear Peter ask.
"Because I don't know what I'm doing," I huff.
"Happens to the best of us," Peter shrugs. I chuckle lightly and lift my head and gaze at him.
"If you came here to tell me that I need to apologize to Sirius and James, you're not going to like my answer," I raise my brows at him.
"I didn't," Peter shakes his head.
"Then why are you here?" I ask.
Peter shrugs his shoulders. "I haven't seen you in a while. I guess I missed you. And I wanted to see if I was also on your bad side," he grins at me. I rolled my eyes at him.
"You could never be on my bad side, I like you too much," I say sarcastically. He smiles at that and we are both silent for awhile. I look at his light blue eyes and his lightly freckled face. I draw a sharp breath once I realize I had been staring at him and quickly look away.
