CHAPTER       71      The   Producer

"Hello Samotny.  It's a pleasure to see you again.”

Hindi ako makapaniwala.   Kilala ko ang lalaking ito.

  

“M....Matthew?"

"I'm glad you remember me," masaya niyang tugon.

 Lumapit siya sa akin at galak niya akong kinamayan.

 “Pa…Papaano nangyari ito?  I…Ikaw?” nauutal kong tanong.

 “You’re wondering how I became the producer?” nakangti niyang tanong.

 “Uummm…ganon na nga.  Hehe,” nahihiya kong sagot.

 “Well, it’s a long story.    Why don’t we discuss it over lunch?” pag-aalok niya.

Kailangan talaga over lunch?   Boss ko siya, paano ako makakapagtanggi?  Business lunch lang naman ito diba?  Ayun nga.   Business lunch lang ito.

 “Ok, fine.   I’m hungry anyway.   Your treat?” pagbibiro ko sa kanya.   

 Napailing na lang siya habang natatawa.

 “I’m glad you haven’t changed,” natatawa niyang sagot.

“So, you wanted to know how I got this job right?” pagsisimula ni Matthew nang makaupo na kami sa restaurant.   Nandito kami ngayon sa ‘Bongo Room’, isa sa mga paborito kong brunch places.  

 "Yes, please. Small world kasi talaga eh. Biruin mo, of all places, dito pa talaga tayo nagkita," namamanghang pahayag ko sa kanya.

 Matapos naming makapag-order ay sinimulan na niya ang kanyang kwento.

 “Well, I’ve always had this interest in filmmaking.    After I graduated from DLSU, I went to New York to study filmmaking.   I've interned in a few production companies, met quite a bunch of people from the industry.   One thing just led to another, from one connection to another.  Then, the rest is history.   I can say that I'm quite lucky to have met the right people."

 "Wow.   Ang galing naman.  I'm happy for you.  I was really surprised to see you," sagot ko sa kanya.  "In fairness ah.  Mukha ka namang producer."

 Ano ba?  Bakit ko ba binibiro ang lalaking ito?   Boss ko na siya ngayon.   Pero napangiti ko naman siya kaya ayos lang.

 "I was surprised when I saw your name on the cast list.  At first, I coudn't believe my eyes.   Could  this be the same Samotny I met ten years ago, I asked myself.   Then I saw your photo card.   I was so happy to have finally found you again," masigla niyang kuwento.

 I was so happy to have finally found you again.   Teka, hinahanap ba niya ako?

 "Yes, I have been looking for you.  I was expecting to see you in college but you disappeared on me."

 Aba.  Ang galing rin pala nitong magbasa ng iniisip ko.   Ganon ba talaga ako ka-transparent?

 "So, aren't you gonna tell me why you didn't go to DLSU like you told me?" pangungusisa niya.  

"Ah.   Kasi my family decided to come here.   Biglaan talaga.   Right after our vacation in Davao that year when I last you, my parents bombed us with the news," pag-eexplain ko sa kanya.
