3rd Person POV

= San Francisco =

A rat crawls over a van's rear windshield and accidentally activates the controls for opening the Quantum Realm, haphazardly activating the Quantum Tunnel. The rear door busts open, flinging Scott Lang (Ant Man) and another body outside the van

Scott groans as he deactivates the helmet, pushing himself off the ground. He looks around as electricity crackles on his suit. "What the hell?" He whispers. "Hope?" He brushes his gauntlet before looking around quickly. "The girl!" He exclaims, springing to his feet

Once out of the facility, Scott pulls a pushcart with a bunch of stuff in it. Along with the materials lies the body of an unconscious girl with blonde hair and purple highlights. Unknown to Scott Lang, he had stumbled across Nikita Maximoff in the Quantum Realm

Scott walks around until reaching his hometown, finding a post filled with MISSING posters, abandoned houses, a wrecked car, nothing but desolation. He then sees a kid on a bike pass by

"Kid! Hey kid!" Scott yells. The kid on the bike screeches to the stop and stares at Scott. "What the hell happened here?"

The kid still stares at him and is almost about to tear up, but immediately turns away from him and moves on

"What the hell?" Scott whispers as he looks around. Looking back at the unconscious body in his pushcart, he realizes that he needs to keep moving and find help

"You know, if you're about to tell me to look on the bright side...Um... I'm about you to hit you in the head with a peanut butter sandwich." Natasha Romanoff tells Steve Rogers in the Avengers Compound

"Sorry. Force of habit." Steve tells her, sitting down across from her. "You know, I keep telling everybody they should move on and... grow. Some do. But not us."

"If I move on, who does this?" Natasha questions

"Maybe it doesn't need to be done." Steve poses

Natasha takes a deep breath. "I used to have nothing. And then I got this. This job... this family. And I was... I was better because of it. And even though... they're gone... I'm still trying to be better."

"I think we both need to get a life." Steve says

"You first." Natasha says with a smile

A camera footage pops up in front of them, showing Scott Lang with his Quantum Realm Van behind him. "Oh! Hi. Hi! Is anyone home?" He calls to the security video. "This is Scott Lang. We met a few years ago, at the airport? In Germany? I got really big, and I had my mask on. You wouldn't recognize me."

Steve stands up. "Is this an old message?" He asks

Natasha stands up. "It's the front gate." She realizes

"Ant-Man? Ant-Man, I know you know that. I need to talk to you guys." Scott says. "Look, I got a girl in my car. I remember her from Germany."

"Who's he talking about?" Steve asks

"Nikita I believe her name was." Scott says to the camera

Natasha plops into her seat, shocked. "Oh my god...he's got Nikki." She breathes, looking at Steve

"She didn't get snapped?" Steve asks

"No." Natasha says. "I saw it....she warped away before the snap happened." She lets out a small scoff with tears in her eyes. "Thanos took 50%...one twin is here and one is snapped...that's a cruel joke."

"Come on." Steve says, making his way to the door

***

Natasha had just finished setting up Nikita on the couch with an IV connected to her arm and a pulse reader. She touches Nikita's cheek before standing up and joining the boys on the other side of the couch. Scott paces back and forth as Natasha stops next to Steve

"Scott." Steve calls his attention. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm fine." Scott says. He struggles to ask about something before he blurts it out. "Have you ever studied Quantum Physics?"

"Only to make conversation." Natasha quips

"Alright." Scott says. "So... five years ago, right before Thanos, I was in a place called the Quantum Realm. The Quantum Realm is like its own microscopic universe. To get in there, you have to be incredibly small."

"So how did Nikki get in there?" Natasha asks

"Have either of you thoroughly studied her powers?" Scott asks, to which Natasha and Steve shake their heads. "Nikita Maximoff's powers deal with the Quantum Realm. I was fascinated during our battle in Germany, took a scan of her and her powers, and studied them. Creepy? Maybe. But maybe not cause here's what I found out. When she warps and disappears in her famous flash of purple, her body shrinks before teleporting her away."

"I saw Thanos hit her." Natasha says. "I watched. It looked like she was dead."

"Not dead. Unconscious." Scott says. "She was unconscious when I found her in the Realm. Her powers brought her into the Quantum Realm because she was in danger, her powers and her subconscious knew that. So, I used that theory and put her in danger to warp her out. I put her in danger, held on, and she warped us out of there."

"While being unconscious?" Steve questions

"It's like you didn't listen to what I explained." Scott says. "Look, Hope, she's my... She was my... She was supposed to pull me out. And then Thanos happened, and I got stuck in there."

"I'm sorry. That must've been a very long five years." Natasha says

"Yeah, but that's just it." Scott says. "It wasn't. For me, for us," He says, gesturing between himself and Nikita, "it was five hours. See, the rules of the Quantum Realm aren't like they are up here. Everything is unpredictable. Is that anybody's sandwich? I'm starving." He says, grabbing the peanut butter sandwich and taking a bite

"Scott, what are you talking about?" Steve asks

"What I'm saying is, time works differently in the Quantum Realm." Scott says. "The only problem is right now, we don't have a way to navigate it. But what if we did? I can't stop thinking about it. What if, we could somehow control the chaos, and we could navigate it? What if there was a way to enter the Quantum Realm at a certain point in time but then exit at another point in time? Like... Like before Thanos."

"Wait, are you talking about a time machine?" Steve asks

"No. No, of course not." Scott says. "No, not a time machine. It's more like a... Yeah, a time machine. I know it's crazy. But I can't stop thinking about it. There's gotta be some way... There's gotta be...some w... it's crazy."

"Scott, I get emails from a raccoon, so nothing sounds crazy anymore." Natasha tells him

"So who do we talk to about this?" Scott asks

Movement from the couch alerts the group of three that Nikita had awoken. She sits up before looking around. The first thing she notices is that she's in the Compound. The second thing she notices is Natasha's blonde hair is no longer blonde but red with blonde tips as if it had been grown out for a while. And the third thing she notices, "Where's my sister?" She asks in a whisper
