Okay so I only know parts of the plot of love never dies so pls don't hate me if I get anything wrong. such as me switching Gustaves age, he'll probably be like 9 in this one! And it's been almost a year since Christine passed, BTW I am aware he is like 10 in the musical but this is just a one shot so

Erik woke to the sound of his bedroom door being opened, the deformed man turned over to his other side so he could see who was disturbing him. His expression softened when he realized it was Gustave, " what are you doing up with early?" Erik tiredly asked the small boy standing in the doorway. Gustave stayed silent for a few seconds before mumbling a response, "I had a-a nightmare.." he stuttered, still being scared of the dream.
A few moments of silence passed until Erik patted the spot next him on the bed, Gustave scurried over to his father. He then hopped up onto the bed, and put the warm covers over his small frame. Erik gave a small smile at the boy then continued to get comfortable once more but was stopped when a small figure curled into his side slightly. He carefully put his arms around Gustave, being extra careful not to hurt him.
The man kissed his son's head gently, closing his eyes once more. A melody that Christine used to sing popped into his head, giving him an idea. "Lavenders green dilly dilly, lavenders blue. You must love me dilly dilly for I love you," Erik sang softly as both of them fell into a peaceful sleep
