background (childhood) : her parents were just starting to gain power in japan when ikehara was born. in the tiny town of ine, she lived in a small house with her parents and older brother, akio. their house, like almost every other house in ine, was right up against the ocean. as ikehara got older, her and akio often played in the water, resulting in many near drownings. due to this, she learned to swim quickly, and by two, could keep herself afloat, and at four, she could move around efficiently and effortlessly. as her parents grew their business, a makeup brand (YOU2), they drifted further and further away from their fishing occupation. the family worked to move to tokyo, and when ikehara was six, the family packed up and moved to the capital city. there, they moved into a large and expensive mansion, and the family found their place in the spotlight. the business boomed and became international, bringing in more and more money. due to the business, ikehara and akio were left with a nanny a lot, and never grew very close to their parents. her childhood was full of expensive clothes, private schools, tutors, thousand dollar meals, and lots of travel and vacations with her parents and brother.
