background (childhood) : almost as soon as he could walk, lukas was put on the ice. he and his twin sister were very, very close from a young age as well. anything one did, the other had to do as well. they were practically attached at the hip. when he was six, he had surgery to fix a very bad ulcer in his stomach, and he honestly can't remember any of it. early on, he began participating in competitions for figure skating, of which he had been doing since he was five. many of these competitions were local, but a few were national. figure skating became his everything, and it was all he did with every waking hour
background (teenage) : as a teenager, he had more opportunities to compete. he began working with personal trainers as well as taking lessons, and he caught the attention of many. his sister had followed the same path as him, and the both of them came to be known as the duo, among other nicknames. this is when lukas really began to medal. once finished with high school, he devoted his entire life to figure skating, figuring that he could go to college once this part of his life was over. his ultimate dream was to make it to the olympics
background (adult) : now an adult, lukas finishes out his skating career and ends at twenty-five. he considers going back to school, but decides against it and begins to teach figure skating, becoming a sought after personal and private teacher. many of his students went on to large competitions, and some medaled highly
