Y/N looked at Mr Barber and shook her head as quickly as she could. Probably too quickly, if she was being honest with herself. No, that definitely gave the game away. But she felt as though she couldn't lie to Andy, not after everything he'd done for her. But then... but then she felt as though she couldn't tell him about everything.

An internal debate formed inside of Y/N, deciding what she should tell him. There were so many things she could tell him about, Jacob in the basement, the dog Mr Wallace apparently shot, the steamy encounter they'd had a week ago.

However, each of those topics made her equally uneasy, so that didn't narrow up the decision at all.

"Y/N? What's wrong? What do you know, kiddo?" Andy asked her, his tone softening up as he looked at her, sitting down at the table opposite her seat. He looked at her with big, worried eyes. How could she lie to Andy?

"Uhm." She paused, looking down at her plate of food she'd hardly touched, swallowing thickly. "I don't know anything about Daniel... if that's what you're asking."

Andy shrugged and sighed softly, leaning back in his seat. Somehow, this made her less tense, she felt less like she was being interrogated. "I don't know what's gotten into that kid recently. Maybe it was my fault for coming off too strongly." He groaned softly and rubbed his eyes a little. "Should have asked him in a better way, I know I should have. I just got worried, that's all, if he were to be involved somehow then- my god- I don't think I could take a repeat of last year."

Y/N gave a short nod and picked at her plate of food, glancing up at the stairs and wondering if Jacob was okay. "Yeah, I get that."

Andy looked at her again, "Are you okay, Y/N? You haven't been yourself the past week. I can't help but wonder if something's happened."

And once again, Y/N felt forced to speak by the kind and gentle eyes of Andy Barber. Damn it, no wonder this guy was a lawyer. He had no trouble getting information out of people. Y/N fought the urge to gulp. "Yeah, I'm okay- I think. It's just..." Y/N trailed off, thinking about what had happened between her and Jacob.

"Whatever it is, I won't be mad. I can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong." He assured her.

This was it, this was her chance to tell Andy about what happened between her and Jacob. It would be embarrassing and awkward, she knew that, but maybe she'd feel better for it in the long run. "Remember what you... what you saw back in Mexico?"

Y/N saw Andy visibly cringe, most likely immediately regretting asking her if she was okay. "Oh, God. Yes, yes I remember. How can I forget?" He paused and shook his head, his whole mind completely forgetting about Daniel for a moment.

Maybe it was a good thing she was telling him. Maybe, that way, she wouldn't feel so guilty whenever she was around him. Maybe it would take the heat off of Jacob.

"Well. Last week, it was... it was like that. But- worse. I don't- I don't know.. I uh-" Y/N stumbled over her words, the heat finally rushing to her cheeks and the embarrassment finally settling in, like a hive of wasps making a home inside of her. She wished she could un-see the look of horror on Andy's face.

"Oh, well, as long as you listened to my advice about condoms and stuff- because those vending machine ones are just-" Andy broke off for a moment. "Dear, God. You didn't use vending machine ones, did you? Oh, dear lord, I can't be having-"

Y/N shook her head frantically, feeling ten times more embarrassed than she had before. She knew she shouldn't have brought it up. "Andy, no, we didn't do that. Just- just forget I said anything. Let's just say, it didn't end well. And now Jacob and I aren't on the best of terms, okay?"

Y/N looked away from Andy, sweating as if she'd just ran four marathons and then sunbathed next to the sun. Andy nodded, seeming a little relieved. "Okay, well, just- just don't have sex. Because you'll get pregnant and die." He finished, apparently that was all of the parenting he could manage, he was a little bit shaken up. Andy took a deep breath and sat back in his seat.

Y/N felt as though a weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

"You know, when I asked if you were okay I was really just hoping you'd tell me something about Jacob and Daniel but- but that works too, I suppose." Andy admitted, sighing softly. Y/N chuckled and gave a small smile. "So, you really don't know anything about Daniel?"

Y/N shook her head. She wasn't lying, technically, she never even knew the kid. "No, I don't. I'm going to go and check on Jacob." She told him, watching him give her a short nod before disappearing up the stairs.

She was just glad to be out of the room, the awkwardness was unbearable. Y/N walked down the hallway to Jacob's room and gave a small knock on the door before walking inside.

Immediately, she was met with that teenage boy smell. Sweat covered up with the smell of deodorant, hardly. But it wasn't awful, it was just Jacob's room. He was sat on his bed, in the middle of putting a clean shirt on as she walked in. Her eyes caught a glimpse of his bare torso before he pulled the new shirt over himself.

Jacob looked up at her, as if he was surprised to see her. One thing she noticed, was that his cheeks were still damp from crying.

"Hey." He spoke, his voice quiet. "Did my dad send you in here?"

Y/N shook his head and remained stood hesitantly at his door frame. "No. I wanted to see if you were okay." She watched him nod slowly before budging up to sit at the head of his bed.

Jacob nodded at a spot on his bed, urging her to sit down. "Come and sit, we need to talk."
