Dates in the sun. Drinks at sunset. Spending the time by the beach. Summer love making everything feel better. The world seem brighter. When it's warmer and everyone's happier. Summer love doesn't tend to last long. But you always remember your first summer love. That 3 months you spend together. Splashing in the ocean. Talking from sun rise to sun set. Then when the heat goes away so does the love. But you don't forget the time you spent together. Those 3 months of pure lust. Wrapped up in each other's company.

"Where are you taking me," I squealed.

His hand has wrapped around mine dragging me down a path.

"Just a little further," he smiled.

Tom had his sunglasses on his head and curls were falling onto his forehead. A white shirt clung to his body that was soon to be caked in sweat from the heat.

"Tommy, I don't want to walk anymore. It's too hot and I'm too tired."

He turned round to look at me and smiled. Tugging on my hand pulling me on. About five minutes of walking later I saw it. The crystal clear water that surrounded the white Sandy beach.

"It's beautiful," I gasped.

"Told you it was worth the walk," he smirked.

The sun was at its height and we were both sweaty for our walk. I felt the sand between my toes and heard the waves crash. Every thing about the beach made me feel at ease.

"You coming in?"

I nodded stripping my self of my shorts and top to reveal my bikini tossing my clothes to the side. Tom taking his top off leaving him in swimming shorts. We both ran into the water smiling and laughing. The waves crashing against us. The water instantly cooling us. I swam up to Tom and wrapped my legs around his waist. His hands holding me up. I leant my head back and felt the sun beat down onto us.

"Happy darling?"

"So happy," I grinned leaning closer into him to connect our lips together.

Are you ever really sad with a summer love? The sun intensifies every emotion. Making lust feel like love. And your on top of the world every moment. Laughing enjoying every moment. Wishing that summer would never end. That life could be spent in this daze of heat forever.

I sipped my drink and watched the sun set over the sea. Watching the sun from the restaurant we were sat at waiting for our dinner.

Tom was tracing circles into my hand. He had a bronze glow that made him look even more handsome. I turned from the sunset to look at him.

"What?" He laughed.

"Just thinking how handsome you look. That's all," I shrugged smiling.

He smiled back at me. His smile making everything seem even better.

"Want to go on a walk along the beach after dinner."

I hummed in agreement. Soaking up the last remaining sun of the day.

"You look stunning darling," he smiled.

A blush crept up my cheeks. A tingling feeling filling up inside me as he complimented me.

"Don't blush," he laughed.

"Can't help it," I shook my head.

He leaned forward and lightly pressed his lips to mine. Leaving me wanting more.

"I never want summer to end," he sighed.

"Neither. It's like the perfect time. The heat. I wonder how we live without it."

"Darling we live in England. We should be used to the bad weather by now."

I laughed nodding my head. "I guess your right."

I took another sip of my drink and smiled at the boy in front of me. His bronze complexion making me forget everything. He was the only thing that mattered right now in this moment.

The thing about a summer love is your too wrapped up in the moment to think about anything else. Thinking how you've met the love of your life. How you never thought you could be so lucky. That you were going to spend the rest of your life with this person.

I looked up at the sky. White stars filling the otherwise overwhelming black colour. I was tracing shapes into his chest. We were talking about nothing and everything.

"Most embarrassing childhood memory. Go."

I groaned. "Only if you tell me yours after."

"Of course," he laughed.

"Right so I was like nine or ten and I was staying at a friends house. And at this age I didn't have the best bladder control."

He let out a loud burst of laughter and I hit him on the chest.

"Hey," I scoffed. "You can't make fun of me," I pouted.

"Ok I'll stop," Tom chuckled.

"Right so I was staying in her bed. And we had like a lot of juice before we went to sleep. It was like 2am and I woke up in like a puddle of my own piss. I was crying hysterically. My mum had to come and pick me at 2am to try and calm me down. And I don't think I've spoken to that friend since," I laughed face palming.

Tom at this point was sniggering. He eventually couldn't hold it in any longer and burst out into a fit of laughter.

"Who the hell can't go to the toilet at nine or ten," he spoke between laughs.

"Fuck I don't know," I giggled joining him in his laughter.

But there's the moment when you have to move on. Enter reality again. Stop the pretending. Stop living in the heat and the moment. When everything cools down.

But was it just luck that my summer love was a forever love? That I was that lucky person who found there forever person in a summer love.

You never think that when you part ways at the end of summer that you'll actually stay together. That those empty promises you make actually mean something. That once the heat dies down and everything settles that they still see the good. They still have that look in their eyes from when they first met you.

However the look in their eyes is no longer lust powered by the sun. It's love that's built up after years of spent time together. Some of it in the sun. However some of it in the cold. Weather the bad days together and enjoying the good.

The sun beat down. The day glorious. Making me reminisce about the time we met. How far we'd come. Many people told me that we'd never last. That the heat of summer would wear off. But it never did for us. I was looking in the mirror looking how far we'd come. My hair curled and makeup perfect. After days spent in the sun and heat I never thought we'd end up hear. About to meet at the alter.

The sun was now setting. The day almost over but the night beginning. My hand interlaced with my new husbands.

"Happy darling?"

"So happy," I grinned. "I can't believe I met you."

"Your the miracle I didn't know I needed. I love you so much," he smiled.

"I love you Tommy."

I leant in to kiss him. Sharing a kiss that would be one of many for as long as forever would last for us. I put my head on his shoulder looking at the stars that were begging to fill the night sky as we talking about nothing and everything.
