We advanced into the thick forest. Everyone scanned the trees for any possible threats.

Y/N: Look out for any traps from ditches to tripwires. We must not underestimate their ability to set traps whether for hunting or defense.

30 Minutes later

Well, we made it to the village, "Coda" as to how Adonis translated to everyone else. I looked at him skeptically.

Adonis: That's what it says, "Coda". I learned Latin when I was back in Greece with my parents.

Y/N: Whatever you say, Adonis, we can't even read this. Just don't feed us bullshit.

Adonis: I won't even think about that.

Y/N: Let's go everyone, we must not waste any time. If the locals resist, shoot them, otherwise, don't do anything stupid, or high command will give us hell.

Walking into the village is... awkward to say the least. The locals just stared at us with confused expressions on their faces, it took everything we had to keep a straight face. A man who I assumed to be the mayor walked towards us with 2 armed guards. I turned to Adonis and gestured him forward.

Y/N: Adonis, you talk to him, tell him we're just passing by and need a map. Ask him if there are any other villages.

Adonis: Whatever you say.

???: Ahem I am the Chief of this village. May I ask, who are you and what do you want?

Adonis: We mean no danger to you or your people. We are passing by and only asking for a map.The Chief looked at us with a confused expression on his face for a bit then gestured to us to follow him.

Sun: What's up with him?

Wei: Probably wondering why we didn't pillage and burn down the village instead.

I looked back and whispered to the two, teeth clenched.

Y/N: Quiet, you two! We're only getting a map so we get the hell out of here.

After waiting outside the Chief's home, he got a spare map and we got out of there as quickly as possible. Adonis read the map only to find other villages, cities, and kingdoms.

Adonis: Seems we're at the center of this map, we're at the location of Alnus according to this map.

Adonis showed me the map and pointed, but all I saw was gibberish to me.

Y/N: You know we can't read Latin, you already forgot?

Adonis: Oh right, I forgo- What in god's name is that!?

I floored the brake and turned to him. He was standing up and pointing.

Y/N: Goddammit! Don't scare me like- What the hell?!

Shen: What is that?

Everyone was silent, in the direction where Adonis is pointing, a red dragon is breathing out flames. Unlike the dragons we killed back in Nanjing and our first battle in this world, this dragon is way bigger and can breathe flames. Not even the dragons in ancient Chinese mythology would do such a terrible thing as to personally kill people. Adonis frantically looked at the dragon and down at the map.

Adonis: Hold on, a village is supposed to be where the dragon is attacking! We must go there now!

Sun: Are you serious? We have nothing to put out those flames, and our weapons will probably not even scratch that dragon!

Wei: But there could be survivors!

Shen: You idiot! There's nothing that can even survive that blaze. I remember hearing our soldiers setting fire to a temple in Taierzhuang*, trapping many Japanese devils, killing everyone inside, this is much worse.
