Later, when they were walking, Emma showed Ray the pen. He got up to the hologram, but then suddenly, Thoma gasped.

"LANI!" He screamed, panicking.

"What's up, Thoma?" Ray asked, running up to him.

"Emma! Ray! Norman! This is bad! Lanni disappeared!" Thoma shouted.

"What's going on? Was he attacked? Or did he get lost?" Emma asked.

"No, no, no! He just suddenly vanished into thin air! We were talking together until just a second ago... But then just now I looked over and he was gone!"

Everyone started calling for Lannion, looking to find out where he went.

"Norman, Ray! I'm gonna go look for h-"

"No Emma, don't. Something about this doesn't seem right," Norman claimed.

"He's right, there's no response. Not only from Lani. Why isn't anybody else saying anything either?"

"No way..." Emma muttered, shocked. "Where did everyone go?"

Suddenly, the ground opened up, swelling the three of us.  They landed in a cave made with tree roots surrounding it.

"Norman? Ray?" Emma called.

"Over here!" Norman responded while Thoma started screaming about a bug.

"Are we... underground?" Emma asked.

"Yeah, most likely," Ray confirmed.

"Could it be that everyone else is down here?"

"Let's search."

They suddenly heard someone calling Emma's name.

"Gilda?" Emma yelled back.  They saw each other and quickly gathered back up together. "Thank god you're all okay!" Emma said gratefully.

"Look, Emma!" One of the kids shouted, pointing at the cave.

"What is this place...?" Ray wondered aloud.

"It can't be," Norman murmured, noticing familiar details, the strange flowers, bugs, and lights.

The kids started to talk about the cave, and how weird it was.

"Let's just focus on getting out of here for now," Emma suggested.  They started discussing ways to get out, and eventually decided to look for a different exit.  Ray and Emma discussed how weird and unnatural the cave was, and Norman just zoned out.

Eventually, the group wandered to the base of the tree, and as they were discussing plans to climb it, Nat suddenly screamed.

"Look..." He said, trembling, and pointed to the ceiling.  Everyone looked up, and there were animal corpses hanging from the ceiling of the cave-like structure.

"So that's how it is..." Ray realized.  "We're in big trouble.  This place... this forest is..."

"Alicia!  Jemima!  Run!" Emma interrupted loudly.  A pair of roots were slithering towards the two, and Emma jumped over to them and grabbed the two.  Norman gasped when he saw the interaction.

"So it really...I know what this is," Norman said, suddenly speaking up.  Emma and Ray looked at him.

"In Sparrow's letter, she told me to memorize the Adventures of Ugo.  I didn't know why at the moment, but after seeing this place, I think it's safe to draw the conclusion that that book was describing the outside world.  And that this is..."
