"You're getting better at this, kiddo. Just gotta make sure you're following through."

The gloves on my hands fuze into my flesh as I hit the dummy. "You think so? Getting better, I mean." I didn't realise just how breathless I was until I spoke. Tony pats a hand on my shoulder as I pause.

"When would I lie to you?" His grin seems to find it's way onto my face, a contagious pride. I don't remember ever feeling this way.

I love it.

I peel the gloves off before finding a seat on the cool floor mat, taking a well deserved drink of water. He follows suit.

"You have potential, kiddo."

I scoff, wiping my chin. "Yeah sure, perfect Avengers-level material considering i can barely lift half my own weight. So much potential."

"Having potential doesnt mean you're perfect, kid".

I pause, looking at him.

"Well... What does it mean then?"

He thinks for a minute. Looking away, as if his thoughts were somehow scribed into the wall.

"Well, lets say you wanna build a house. Before you do anything, you need a solid foundation to build up. Right now we're building that foundation." He smiled taking a look at me. "Make sense?"

I pause, my breath not quite as labored now.

"Yeah, I guess so."

With a grin, he helps me back to my feet. "Lets take a break. You've been at this for a few hours now. Hungry?"

"Maybe a little."

As I go to follow him, Bruce comes in yelling. "DONNIE! STARK! IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU ALL DAMN DAY!"

"Woah, take it easy doc. Whats going on?"

"Youre gonna have to see if for yourself! Follow me." We rush after him, almost frantic. So much for lunch.
