As it came time for the next election things were starting to lighten up, Philip was back in action and alex seemed to be taking an interest in politics again, it was interesting to say the least, i was  over one day helping Elisa while our kids played together when i saw alex speaking with aaron burr through the window, of course i was curious about it, so when alex came back inside i looked at him

"sooo...what was that about?" i asked him

alex raised an eyebrow at me "you mean my conversation with burr? "

i nod "yup"

"he's openly campaigning" alex responded

"oh..thats...new" i furrow my eyebrows

"it worries me, he's charming so it'll probably work out well for him " he crossed his arms

"you sound like you have a problem with that" i stated

"i do." he said plainly

i sighed "of course you do" i whispered to myself

"I'll be in my study" Alexander announced

"See you in a couple weeks" I smiled at him before returning to Eliza.

After the election

I was at Thomas' house along with james Madison, Lafayette and quite a lot of people whom I dont know, he was holding a small get together in celebration of him winning presidency, I decided I'd step out for a moment.

I turned to Lafayette "I'm going to step outside for a moment" I whispered to him.

"Alright, I'll be out to check on you in a few minutes" Lafayette smiled at me.

I made my way outside where it seemed no one was, but, I heard some talking, now, I normally wouldn't eavesdrop but I happened to hear Thomas and aaron, I was going to say hi but from what I ended up hearing that wouldn't be a good idea

"Oh and burr when you see Hamilton...thank him for the endorsement" thomas said in a slightly gloating tone, I could hear the smirk on his face, I fairly quickly went back inside

Lafayette looked over at me and raised an eyebrow "is everything alright?" He questioned

"Yes" I smiled at him, he nodded, putting his hand on my back.

Days later

I heard rapid knocking on my door, I sat up, Lafayette had already left our room, I got dressed then walked out to see Philip and Lafayette talking, I raised an eyebrow

"What's going on?" I questioned

Lafayette turned to look at me, a frown on his face "mon cher.." he sighed

"Its pop...he got in a duel..he's in the hospital" Philip spoke up

"What?!" I could feel myself start panicking "where is he?" I said, trying to stay calm

"I'll take you there" Philip said as he started to rush, I followed as did Lafayette, eventually we got there, when we did I rushed to try and see Alexander but Lafayette grabbed my arm, keeping me away

"Mon cher please wait a moment" Lafayette said letting out a breath

"No! Lafayette let me go! I need to see my brother!" I raised my voice at him

"Please dont do this mon cher...your going to blame yourself over something you cannot control.." Lafayette said

"Let me see my brother." I demand

Lafayettes expression saddened more as he let me go

I rushed into the room to be at Alexanders side "alex!" I smiled a little

Eliza and angelica had made room for me to be there, I only got to be with him for a little bit before I was being taken out of the room, by request of the doctors as I was apparently 'asking to many questions' and 'being insulting'

I was now in the waiting room being kept there by Lafayette, within the hour we got news that alex was gone, I practically fell into Lafayettes arms and started to ball my eyes out, this wasn't supposed to happen, alex was supposed to be okay, he was supposed to die of natural causes and old age not..not this...I devoted my life to making sure this didn't happen! So..why..why was this happening?

The next week

I was helping Eliza, I had barely stopped crying but Eliza seemed to have stopped crying, she looked like she was working on something

"Eliza? Is everything alright? What are you doing?" I questioned, sitting down next to her

"I'm alright..I'm just planning to raise funds in DC for a monument in honor of Washington" she told me

"Already?..are you sure you're up to that?" I questioned

"Yes..I've decided I'm not wasting my time crying, I'm going to do my best to continue his work..to the best of my ability" Eliza stated, it looked like confidence rushed over her

I smiled softly "if you need any help, I'm here" I told her

"Thank you..." Eliza smiled

And that's exactly what I did, till the end of my life, I helped Eliza, with the support of Lafayette of course. our children grew up healthy and happy. I only lived a short amount of time longer then Lafayette, we were buried in the same graveyard. Eliza outlived us all, except for the kids of course. When it came time for Eliza to join us, there was more we could have done, but there will always be more to do, especially in the eyes of the Hamiltons. We will just never be satisfied.
