a winters ball

it was a few days after alexander told me about the winter ball coming up, we already got me a new dress and hercules said he'd have it tailored for me since it wasn't quite my size so i was walking to go get my dress, as well as the mail, hercules wasnt at the shop my dress had been tailored at so it was a quick stop, on my way out of the shop i saw the Schuyler sisters, it looked like they where dress shopping, i walked over and before i could say anything i was being squeezed in the middle of a hug

"oH hello there" i giggled softly, hugging all of them, they let me go and looked at the dress i was holding

"are you going to the winter ball?" peggy asked

i nod "yeah..i am "

"is that the dress your wearing?" Eliza asked, i once again nod

"can we see?" angelica asked

"sure" i smiled, holding up my dress, it was navy blue and had wrist length sleeves a corset that tied up in the back leaving the front blank, the dress was made with a silk like texture so it felt really nice, it also had a white silk belt, the sisters smiled

"it looks great!" Eliza smiled

"i bet it looks even better on you" peggy said

"hey, how about we all try on our dresses for the ball later today" angelica said looking at her sisters and me

"ooo~ yes after we get them we can have a girls night!" peggy said excitedly

"that sounds like a wonderful idea but we have to get our dresses first" Eliza said

"well?" angelica said looking at me

"oh..sure, i'd love to" i smiled

angelica smiled "great then lets finish up our shopping then we'll go home" she said, we all walked around the dress shops and i let them shop, it was nice to be around other girls for once, we made jokes and laughed then once they where done shopping we all walked down to the Schuyler residence, once we got there angelica lead us to her room, it was almost as big as me and alexanders apartment, i tried not to let how amazed i was show, but i failed, peggy giggled at me, but i shook it off, we spent the rest of the day trying on our ball dresses

" you do have other shoes to wear with that dress right y/n?" angelica asked

"huh?..no..theses are fine, its not like anyone is gonna see my shoes much anyway" i giggled a little

"no those dont match at all! here, try theses white heels on, hopefully they fit you" angelica said handing me a pair of white heels

"angelica its not like anyone will really notice her shoes.." eliza said

"you dont know that eliza, she could meet her future husband at this ball!" angelica exclaimed

"oh right and her future husband is going to take one look at her shoes and be all like ' oh! her shoes dont match her dress! i cant possibly marry her now!' " peggy said in her best guy voice before laughing, me and eliza joined peggy in laughing, angelica however just looked at us sighing

"just humor me" angelica smiled

"ok ok, i'll try them on" i tried the shoes on and they actually fit great and were very comfortable, angelica insisted on me keeping the shoes for the ball and i ate dinner with the sisters and their father, it was a nice change of pace but i was ready to get back to my brother so after changing back into my normal dress i said my good byes and left the Schuylers, walking home by myself in the dark, which honestly was a little scary, i got home and alexander rushed over and hugged me tightly

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" he yelled as he looked me over, i couldnt tell if he was concerned or angry or both

"hey calm down! i was with friends " i put my dress away as he let me go

"do you know how late it is?! i was worried sick! " alexander said leaning against the door frame

"i know i know and im sorry"i smiled shutting my door and going to sleep

~the night of a winters ball~

me and alexander got ready and went to the ball, we walked into the ball room, there where so many people, i saw arron burr and alexs other friends as well as the general and the Schuyler sisters, it was a little funny seeing all the soldier boys tripping over themselves to try and impress the Schuyler sisters, i walked over to john laurens with my brother, john smiled and put his arm around alexs shoulder, i smiled at them

"aww you two are adorable " i said, watching them, they both looked a little confused but laurens blushed a little

"you think im cute?..." john asked shyly, i giggled a little nodding, alexander raised an eyebrow

"i believe she called US adorable..she didnt call you cute..." alexander said

"why are you upset?" i asked

"im not" alexander crossed his arms, i shook my head and john looked around, he then excused himself and walked up to a girl, asking her to dance, i looked at alex and he looked at me "so..what now?" alex asked

"i dunno" i shrugged, when angelica walked over to alexander, gently grabbing his arm and chatting with him for a bit, she looked in a different direction for a moment then looked back at alexander, looked over to see eliza looking at us

angelica looked over at me "hey y/n..you look great tonight..do uhm..do you two know each other?.." she asked nervously

i giggled a little "hmm, i dont know..do we know each other mr hamilton?"

alex chuckled "well im not sure miss hamilton do we?"

angelicas eyes widened a bit "oh your mar-" i quickly cut her off

"nononono- we're siblings!" i said trying to stop from thinking anything else

"oH alright.." angelica let out a soft sigh, she then pulled alexander aside taking him across the room, i stood there, alone, sighing softly and watched people dance for around an hour before someone wrapped a hand loosely around my waist and put their other hand over my eyes

"guess who" i heard a french accent say

"uhm...tall baguette?"

"...no..but close enough " lafayette took his hands off of me " i apologize if i scared you"

"well, only a little" i chuckled "its nice to see you again"

"oui, i wanted to come over before but i was a bit busy, is alexander near?" lafayette asked

"yes, he's dancing with Eliza Schuyler " i smiled at him

"oh..i see, have you danced with anyone?" laf questioned

"oh no..i've never danced..so..i dont think i'll do any of that tonight" i giggled a little

"oh? is that so? then i suppose we'll be seeing a lot of each other tonight, im a terrible dancer" lafayette chuckled

"oh- well at least i wont be alo-" i was cut off by john laurens coming back over and putting his arm around me

"hey hey hey~" john smiled

"bonjour" lafayette said, staring at john

"hello laurens" i smiled

john looked at lafayette "are you two gonna dance?" he asked

me and lafayette both mumbled a lot of nonsense that basically meant no

"well- its just rude to keep a lady waiting for a dance" john said extending his hand to me

"oh no, im fine- i've never- i couldnt- uhm" i stumbled on my words as john gently took my hand

"i'll teach you, trust me it'll be fun" he said with a smile as he lead me to the dance floor

i sighed shaking my head but let him take me to the dance floor
